how do you know if an agency is reputable?

We are licenced and waiting waiting waiting.

I have some negative feelings towards our current agency for many reasons, but at this point my main concern is getting matched. Its been 9 months and we have been looked at once. I am starting to think we should work with a different agency in conjunction with our current one in order to get things moving quickly for us. I have found a few agencies that, for the program we are looking for, say they can match us fairly quickly.

I am nervous though about investing in a new agency. How do I know they are legit? reputable? other than the bbb, I don't know where to look. Thanks!

The best thing to do is trust your instincts. If you feel something is wrong with your current agency, high tail it out of there!

Where do you live? Maybe someone on these forums lives in teh same area and can give a recommendation. Also, you should be able to ask the agency for references.

I am not so much worried about our current agency being reputable... its more a matter of them not being a good match for our family.

I am trying to find out how to find out if a new agency we are concidering working with is reputable.

With our current agency, they only work locally. The wait times are constantly getting much longer, and we are being told (now) that our wait time is going to be even longer. We also have some serious issue with their openness policy, which was NOT made clear before we committed to the program, both financially and emotionally.

The good news is, they are the largest, oldest, and most affordable in our area. But we are thinking its time to expand our horizons, so to speak, and work with other agencies as well.
