My 5yo dd started snoring towards the end of January. It gets really bad sometimes with sounds like she's slightly choking on her tongue and her nasal passage is like how it is when she's got a cold except its not congested or snotty. She's only ever snored like this when getting over a cold.
Here's some background info:
Moved from Florida to Pennsylvania in Oct 2009. Have been living with a friend who has 3 cats. My husband and I started smoking again in around November (yes, I know that's horrible and we plan to stop VERY soon). We NEVER smoke around dd or in the house at all. She's had more colds than normal since moving to PA. And it seems like since the last bad cold, the snoring never quite stopped. Prior to that, we had to go to Johannesburg South Africa for a family emergency. While there, she got a cold but also had her first real bad ear infection. It was so bad... she was screaming. I never saw her in so much pain. The Dr. said it was probably due to the pressure from the 19 hour flight. But since we've been home, she's had 2 ear infections. Before this, she's never had them. Only 2 minor outer ear infections as an infant. So, I don't know if that has anything to do with the snoring. If there's a delayed response to a cat allergy. All I know is that as soon as I mentioned it to my family Dr. she started talking surgery and steroid creams which I don't want to put her through. If anyone knows what this could be or some alternative methods of treating it, I would greatly appreciate it.
