Here I am! I've managed to read through most of the posts, but I don't have a lot of time to write much right now.

We're still doing really well. Fiona is a lot less fussy than Meredith, and is easier to console at times. Though Meredith fussed more but was generally happy as long as she was being held 24/7; Fiona doesn't fuss as much but holding her isn't always what she wants, so in that way she's a bit tougher to figure out sometimes.

I spent most of today while she was napping putting together a birth video if anyone is interested. It's got nudity, etc., just fair warning.

plummeting- Do you think you could have some oversupply issues? I am still thinking that that could part of Nora's problem. My boys were more fussy and grew super fast. I remember questioning every damn food I ate. And just like you- constantly talking to dh about their fussiness. Maybe your dd is getting such a large volume of milk hence the good growth but not so happy mood? Maybe Nora just knows how to regulate my insane supply? Here she is happy as a clam and I am still worrying!!! I was doing 6 hr block feeding but I got freaked about weight gain and started switching sides more frequently. But I am starting to think the weight problem was all due to her ear infection so maybe I should go back to 6 hr block feeding. An LC I went to thinks she has silent reflux so she doesn't want to eat much. But she has so few signs of reflux. Sigh....

sorry for hijacking this thread!!

Hi ladies! I didn't post much in the DDC, but it was bittersweet to see it go. My son is almost four months old, and he's doing great. He's such a sweet little guy. We've struggled a bit with the nursing, and even had to have his tongue clipped for a minor tie. He's 14 pounds now and 25 inches long, but his dad is 6"3 and bare bones, so I'm not quite worried yet.

I don't think we're still dealing with oversupply, but it's so hard to tell sometimes. I did have some at first, but I did block feeds for a while and things seem to have evened out. I don't feel engorged all the time anymore or anything. I still do one side at a time, but I switch at the next feed. Does your DD fuss at the breast or anything? I sometimes think reflux (especially silent reflux) is a catch all for every baby who fusses or doesn't seem to want to eat. If her weight doesn't pick up, a trial of meds should tell you whether or not that's the problem, right? Sometimes they're useful. I know on kellymom there's an article that says mild reflux doesn't usually need to be treated. Personally, I agree. They usually outgrow it with no long term effects. Of course, it's different if a baby isn't gaining properly or is suffering than if they just seem to have a little reflux, but are otherwise happy.

DD has actually been really happy the last 2 days, but she spit up more than normal. Once we got past the first few weeks, she really didn't spit up much at all - once every several days or so. She's spit up a few times a day the last couple days, but she doesn't seem to care.

Hiya gals! I have been quite absent, but have been lurking now and then. Everything is going well though. Guthrie is pretty much the happiest baby ever. He is awesome. A friend of mine owns a pregnancy-baby-birth-supply store, and I am covering for her while she goes on holidays this summer. I bring Guthrie with me, and chat with mamas about birth, breastfeeding, and cloth diapers all day. And knit when the shop is empty. Basically the best job ever. And that staff discount is tempting me to buy a Didymos...

Oh, and here's another baby with mucus-y stools. They have never really been "seedy". But, he is never fussy (seriously, never... I am kind if waiting for the it her shoe to drop, ha!), and is, I think, around 16 lbs now, so I am choosing not to freak about it. I eat a pretty low-allergen diet anyways (vegan, with very little soy.... though I suppose he could be bothered by wheat or tree nuts ir something).

As for vaxing, we will do it around 6 months.

I think that's all... I can't believe how time has flown. Guthrie will be 4 months on Tuesday! (Which is also my middle son's 3rd birthday.... which reminds me that I only have 4 days to finish his sweater and make him a gnome family... yeep.)

I am glad to hear that everyone is doing well for the most part! Photos to come... sometime...

We are now on day three or four of Maya actually being happy all day, except for when she's tired. For some reason, for the last week or so, she's had to cry herself to sleep every night and for most naps. We aren't leaving her alone or anything - we do everything we can to get her to stop crying. She just won't stop until she falls asleep. Luckily it's not like an hour long process or anything - just a few minutes.

Oh man, I'm so jelly! I wanna own a place like that someday!

Checking in with another happy baby here. I feel so blessed. She's so much fun to be around

We're doing pretty well. Samuel's almost 16 weeks old and is as sweet as can be. We've been out of town for work for about a month now, and are looking forward to getting home in a few days. It's been a challenge sometimes to care for him not at home...but I'm a pro now at nursing in public (and figured out how to nurse in a sling...I love my Maya Wrap!).

He's started wanting to nurse less often which I think is normal but still freaks me out a little bit. He's started making it clear when he does NOT want to nurse...before he'd nurse whenever I offered. I feel like he's becoming a big baby...much more independent than he was even a few weeks ago.

Glad to have this thread...I haven't posted a ton, even in the DDC, but I've been a pretty consistent lurker.

I've heard crying to sleep can mean a water allergy- but only when it's been preceded by 3 days of baby being happy all day.

(just kidding)

I've never been able to nurse in a sling. I figured it is because my boobs are too big but i don't know. What is the secret?

Well I can't actually walk around (very well) while nursing in a sling. But it supports most of DS's weight on my lap, so it makes it a lot more comfy to nurse in awkward positions. And it works pretty well as a nursing cover...I like it a lot better than using a blanket or whatever.

I haven't figured out how to get the tension right around DS's head for him to be fully supported if I were walking around. I don't care too much though...I'm okay with sitting down to nurse.

I can (sort of) do it, and my breasts are like DD's or bigger at times while I'm nursing. But it's tough, and normally I still have one arm around her for support as I can never seem to get it quite tight enough around her head either. I can actually be hands free completely if I need to be, but I never feel totally comfortable. I'm a sling newbie though. A friend of mine who has used her sling a lot nurses her son while he's sitting up tummy to tummy. She just lowers his bum a bit and it seems to work really well. I might try it next time with Fiona.

Hi guys! Adam is getting huge too, but not as huge as some others here. He is *almost* 14lbs, at 4 months old. He is just such a joy. I don't know how I ever lived without him! I have no complaints whatsoever! He is so sweet, and snuggly, and perfect. Although, I could live without the constant spit up, but such is life huh? Now that he is 4 months old, I would like to start pumping milk for him to take a bottle so I can get out of the house for a little while. So far, it is a no go. Whenever we put the bottle in his mouth, he gives us this disgusted look, and refuses to take it. Oh well. We are very selective/delayed vax here, but don't start the few that we choose to do at all till age 2 anyway. Im glad we have this thread, looking forward to keeping up with all of you.

Ok, just now finding this thread! Eleanor is getting so big! She is trying to sit up, she really wants to see everything. She is talking and cooing, she smiles, and is just starting to figure out how to laugh. She found her ear the other day, which was funny, because pretty soon, she was mad that something was pulling on it.

She is still a princess: she wants her routine, she likes everything just so, and is *by far* my hardest baby to nurse. She is gaining well, so I try not to stress when she goes hours and hours without eating. I've removed dairy completely from my diet, since she seems to be sensitive to it. I can def. tell when I've had it, because she is fussy and spits up a ton the following day.

Most days, she sleeps pretty well, although we've had several days last week where she didn't nap well, for whatever reason. At night, I still usually get a nice stretch of 4 hours or so at least once in the night. She is sleeping so much better since I cut out dairy.

I've had a few rough days emotionally here and there. I think it is more a function of being tired and too busy than anything else. I am super thankful that I had my placenta encapsulated; I think that has helped tremendously with my mood and affect. Still taking all my vitamins/minerals. Now if I could just lose some pounds/inches, I would have so many clothes to wear!

DH's band played a roof party in Brooklyn last night, and as we were driving through Park Slope leaving the city, 2 kids asleep in the back, and niece listening to her iPod in the "way back," I was noticing all the interesting restaurants and bars we passed. I remarked that, although I miss going to bars to see bands and to restaurants without worry, I wouldn't trade our current stage of life for all the money in the world. It was so fun back then, but I had no idea what I was missing!

I'm pretty sure this boy of mine is cutting some teeth.

we've got non-stop drool, sleep issues, fussiness, hand gnawing...
He usually passes out at around 6-7 but suddenly he's waking back up at 8 or so and having a total break down (regardless of our attempts to calm him) until we all give up and go to bed. I don't think the heat is helping either.

The frozen washcloth I give him to chew on seems to offer some relief.

I thought teething was supposed to happen later...I mean, he's not even old enough to hold on to whatever he wants to gnaw on.
