I use the equate brand/store brands. They are much cheaper.
Another idea I've been meaning to try-- we've been using a 3 in one solution (ie store, rinse and clean with the same solution.) I wanted to find out if it would be cheaper to buy the saline, soapy stuff, and the storage solution seperately. I can't seem to find it in stores anymore though.
Walgreen's has a register rewards deal for Renu this week IIRC. So you should be able to get it for free or maybe better than free if there is a coupon (provide you need something else at Walgreen in the next two weeks.
In general I think glasses are more frugal. But I wear glasses because I dislike contacts.
Walgreens and CVS both frequently run speicals with the pricier brands where you get the full amount back to register rewards/extra care bucks. I know Rite Aid did a rebate on the better brands not too long ago too. I can't use store brands. They are too drying!
Although DH uses the name brand stuff for cleaning and storing, I got him to switch to plain generic saline solution for rinsing. I know it is pennies, but every bit counts.
I use Optifree and buy it on sale with a coupon. Otherwise, get it at Costco either buying it myself or when my parents come to visit they take us on a Costco trip with them buying. I would be willing to try other brands, but I don't want to go too cheap regarding my eyes. If other brands work, then great but I'd otherwise stick to what works.
