what's your favorite shawl/wrap?

I've done a few feather and fan wraps. Love them. I have a traveling woman on the needles right now. It's going well, but I haven't got to the charts yet. I just bought some dream in color starry (it made my heart flutter), so I'm looking for something lovely that requires about 400-450 yds. I like the look of triangular shawls but don't necessairly need an arrow pointing to my rear. Maybe something in a semi-circle shape or a rectangular wrap? I love swallowtail, got the book from library so I could read the pattern and it looks a bit too dificult. Also, I'm partial to free patterns or those in books I can get from the library.

p.s. I wish we had magic link here!

I'm drooling over this "snow peacock" pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snow-peacock to make as a half circle shawl for my mom, I'm thinking in knitpicks shadow "canopy" http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Shado..._D5420166.html , she loves peacocks. I'm not quite there yet in my skill though, once the hats I want to get made and set aside for Christmas are done I can try it. Also I want to make the "gorgeous goddess" shawl http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...-goddess-shawl though not being pagan myself I just appreciate it as a celebration of womanhood, I'll call it a Mother shawl. I never thought about that "arrow pointing at the butt" aspect of triangular shawls though. *shrugs* My butt looks shapeless enough under my loose skirts I always wear, nothing to see here.

Oh boy, the peacock veil is soooo drool-worthy!

OK- I am knitting a swallowtail- and it really isn't as glamourous as I thought it would be. I am a fairly skilled knitter and the nupps just kill me. It is so not fun having to figure out where I screwed up on every single right side row. Which completely sucks because I really want to knit an aeolin shawl from knitty. And it has tons of nupps.

My favorite wrap? A plain old triangle in an alpaca dk in stocking stitch. It is the coziest thing in the world.

Have you tried a stole? I think that may be more my style....

esaesa, I don't have any recommendations for you as I have yet to tackle a shawl in knitting but I wanted to say I can't wait to be able to make both a swallowtail and an aeolin shawl, those are stunning.

I have been thinking of putting a shawl on the needles. The ones I am currently comtemplating (doing them all just not sure what order) are:

Adamas
Stonington
Fountain Pen
Shipwreck

I have the yarn specifically for Shipwreck and then the yarn for any two of the others. Jared Flood's Hemlock Ring has been calling me but don't know what yarn I want to use yet.

Gotta admit to loving Clapotis.

I'm just now finishing up a Lacy Baktus. It's a quick and easy knit, and I'd definitely recommend it. I'm using WW yarn instead of fingering or DK (don't remember which it calls for).

Can't wait to hear what you decide!
