Hi,
My question to you wonderful researching mamas is, what age do you think would be a safer age to vax. I know all vaxes at any age are not w/o risks, but my feeling so far is that the younger a baby is, the more vulnerable baby's brain and immune system is to a reaction. Is this a good conclusion?
I recently read this really interesting article on NVIC.org Web site by Dr. Lawrence Palevsky about vaxes and babies' immune systems. If you scroll down he details TH1, TH2 and TH3 immune system development and how vaxes bypass the immune system. (Starts at A Little Science Review.) I was really intrigued by this, especially
"In theory, if the TH system is allowed to mature, and is not interfered with, children will develop a mature, balanced TH1, TH2 and TH3 immune system by age three."
My DS is 1 and partially vaxed. (2 Pentacels, 1 Prevnar). I don't feel in any great rush to vax him right now and still continue to research (and delay) further vaxes.
Thanks for sharing. I'd love to know what you think about this article too. It was adaquately supported by great references too.
