How much do you pay your "mother's helper"

My niece, who is 12, is going to start coming over a few times a week to help out with babysitting and some light housework. How much is fair to pay her for this? I have no idea. We were thinking minimum wage, but that seems like a lot. Am I just being stingy?

At 12, I think $5 would be fair, maybe four? What does she think? I don't think minimum wage is stingy, since she is not of age, and plenty of people have to support a family on that, not have some pocket money...

I pay a 12 year old $5/hour in Montgomery County.
