New to Wool, trying to get back to cding at night..

So, I have made some wool longies from 100% wool sweaters I found at the Goodwill. I lanolized them using the fern&ferie instructions for wool wash. I've used them 3 times and each time they're very damp on the inside front in the morning. This time they were slightly damp on the outside too.

So, since I'm trying to get back to cding at night, I bought some hemp fleece and sewed up some doublers using 4 layers hemp 2 layers microfiber. His nightime dipe consists of a bamboo terry pf w/ bamboo layin soaker, my new hemp doubler, and a fleece stay dry liner. Should'nt this be enough? He only wet through the whole dipe in the front, so that is better, but the wool was still very damp. What should I do?

Lanolize them again. You might have to do it several times before it really takes IYSWIM. I like my wool to be pretty sticky, the stickiness wears off after one or two uses and your baby's legs will be nice and moisturized!

Frankly though I'm not sure wool sweater fabric would be thick enough for all night. If you have the funds I'd get a Disana soaker, nothing I've tried works as well. If your baby is already over a year you'll never need to size up.

I second the disana! They rock! The BEST soaker I own... and that is saying a lot because I own loads of wool! I like recycled for days only when I'm changing often. I'm sure some sweaters are super thick but I've tried lots of wool and I've not had overnight success with recycled. But do try lanolizing again. I initially like to lanolize inside out and again right side out if that makes sense.

I'll say that's not enough absorbency for my guy at night. It also depends on how many hours he sleeps and how much he eats during the night.

My 9 mo goes down for about 10 hours at night, and will wake at least 3 times in there to eat (if not more). His night-time diaper consists of a Happy Hempy pocket fitted with the stay dry inner, stuffed with a Bummis infant PF, a UTN infant PF, and a Hemparoo doubler. We cover the whole thing with a Mommy's Touch PUL cover because the wool wasn't containing it. Because even with all that absorbancy, the entire dipe is SOAKED by morning. Seriously, that thing must weigh 4 lbs when I take it off him in the morning.
