CVS testing results

came back with the perfect number of chromosomes!

I'm shocked and elated, and have found myself feeling as though I've just discovered I'm pregnant! You know, but with a 14 week bump!

Thank you, thank you for all of the support and positive energy!

For the record, I don't regret my decision to have the initial screening AT ALL. I'm simply thrilled to have a happy outcome.

Can i ask why you choose the CVS over a amnio?

So glad everything came back clear for you, must feel great. As I sit here at 9w3d I still have a lot of that hanging (albeit lightly) over my head.

For one thing, choosing the amnio would mean I'd still have another 2 weeks of waiting to have it done, plus waiting for the results. We did choose to decline the 48-hour fsh test, so it's not as though we're *completely* impatient, but the waiting certainly took an emotional and physical toll. One of the first things dh said when I gave him the good news was "Now we have to get you healthy again!" He's right. I need to relax, eat well, and sleep decently for this baby. I haven't really done that in the past 9 days!

We also wanted a longer window for follow up and decision making. Faced with what's considered a fatal diagnosis, we knew we would want follow up testing, and we didn't want to be rushed into any action due to legalities.

We did check our peri's stats, and her CVS miscarriage rate is better than the typical amnio rate, so that definitely helped. Because of the placenta's location, she was also able to do it abdominally rather than vaginally, which is supposedly better and safer (even if it was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable for a few intense seconds!)

I can't say that it was an *easy* choice, but it was definitely the one that made the most sense for us. If our risk odds had been lower (say, 1:50 vs. the 1:<5 we were given), we may have made a different decision.

Congratulations! I still remember the day I got my CVS results. I'll never forget the genetic counselor saying, "I'm calling with good news!" and the intense relief that flooded through me. I'm so glad you got to know that feeling!
