Do other people dry nurse?

I was just wondering... My DD will be 3 next month and still nurses quite a bit, but I lost my supply about 6 months ago, I think. I went on a huge diet (lost 8 lbs in a week...) right around the same time that she really downsized her nursing schedule to once or twice a day. It hasn't seemed to bother her, though (or me, really, although I'd rather still be giving her the good stuff!). But I was talking to my sister the other day and she'd never heard of it, so I was wondering if other people have done this, and how it affects weaning and stuff.

Also, now I'm pregnant and really wondering how DD will react when the milk comes back...

I'm currently dry nursing my 2 yr old and 23 weeks pregnant. My milk dried up around 14 weeks pregnant, but dd is not ready to stop nursing. She is down to 3 times a day right now, which I enforced because it hurts!

If you browse through some of the MDC due date clubs, you'll see that lots of women end up dry nursing toddlers.

I am 26 weeks pg and dry nurse my almost 3 year-old. It hurts like the dickens but he really needs the comfort so I deal with the pain.

I am also very curious to see what happens when my milk comes in for the next baby.

I did! ds stopped nursing at 35 months, but sadly 6 weeks later our house burned down. He started to nurse again for about 2 months. I thought my milk would come back but it didn't. he was happy with whatever he got. He did frequently switch sides.

after things got settled a bit, he just was happy to cuddle or kiss his milkies.
