Hi,
I haven't been on this board for a while but my DS has multiple allergies regarding food, seasonal and environmental. I'm pregnant w/#2 and am about 8 weeks along, I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on managing allergies during pregnancy and breastfeeding when you have one child w/bad allergies.
Overall we feel more prepared in terms of ID'ing allergies, our house is very allergy friendly now awdays.
DS's allergies are: dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, rye, buckwheat, tree nuts + peanuts, turkey, pork, cabbage, cantaloupe, oranges, celery, garlic, mustard, spinach, cauliflower, cucumber, raspberry & watermelons. Plus some antibiotics and animal danders.
Some of these like the fruit and and a few of the veggies are more minor reactions, while others are ana and of course, we're an epi-pen family.
Do you think it's worth avoiding some of the worst allergens? What about during breastfeeding? We're planning on avoiding and delaying some of the food w/this baby past a year. W/the BF'ing I'm debating starting from a place of elimination and adding food in or just doing my normal diet and then eliminating. We've been through a lot of w/DS and would like to avoid the months and months of bad eczema, ER visits and bad reactions. Hopefully this child can be spared some of the discomfort through our increased knowledge.
There doesn't seem to be a convincing amount of research on the subject of allergies and pregnancy....
Thanks!
