What did you do today?

I love hearing about other moms days. So lets hear it, what did you do today?

My day isn't over, but I'm due in two days so I'm taking a "rest" while my mothers helper brings DD to the park with her new binoculars. By the time I waddle to the park I have to waddle back to pee, so I'm not much fun.

This morning we woke up and had some cereal, and read books on the couch in our underpants because it was HOT HOT HOT. And the doorbell rang and my once a month cleaning people were there to get the house scrubbed [the tub too] before our homebirth, and we were um not dressed and DH [who works from home] was still sleeping because he was up until 4am working. Embarrassing! We hide upstairs and read more books in bed and played with the kitten we rescued.

And lets see, we escaped the house so they had some privacy and got eggs at the diner, and went to the bookstore to read in the air conditioning and that's where DD got her first pair of binoculars which she's so excited about. We spend at least a few hours a week in the kids section of Barnes and Noble; me with my coffee and DD and a stack of books.

Later friends are coming over to BBQ/play, and we may watch a movie depending on how I'm feeling. I'm kind of anti-TV especially if it's nice out, but it's going to get really thunder-stormy and I'd love to cozy up!

Today DH and 19-month-old DS got up and fed the dogs, as usual, and DS played in the bathroom while DH showered and got ready for work, letting me sleep in a bit (I'm pregnant and not sleeping well at all, so every minute counts).

Then we all went downstairs where I gave DS his breakfast and DH left for work. Made a (very small) cup of coffee and had my breakfast in between helping DS eat his. The caffeine energized me enough to do a few loads of laundry, clean all the bathrooms, scrub down the kitchen (stove, countertops, etc.), dust, make the bed, and do some other miscellaneous chores. We have house guests coming today so I'm running a little behind.

DS took his nap at about 11AM and I sat and read for a time. Made myself a light lunch and finished it just before DS woke up. Gave him his lunch and then cleaned up his play area and we banged around on the piano together for awhile. Then we read some stories together and now I have my feet up while he plays independently with his toys and books. My guests should arrive any minute, the house is breezy and cool even though it's fairly hot outside, and I feel pretty well even if I have some major pregnancy fatigue. Things could definitely be worse.

let's see. when ds 2 and i finally crawled out of bed at the prompting of ds1 at 9 a.m., we came downstairs and i made some breakfast for ds1. ds2 had a snack. then we did a lot of lying around, some TV watching before i talked with their daddy online during his lunch. then we had lunch and after i messed around on facebook and whatnot, we went out for a walk. ds2 fell asleep in the buggy, as he generally does, on our walk after we got some books at the library for ds1. it's very cute; he goes in by himself, returns his books and lets the librarian know i'm outside waiting and he's to pick 3 new books. after that, we came home, read books, ds1 went to his bedroom for his nap and i had a shower. now i'm chilling with mothering.com with ds2 beside me on the couch.
haha productive! i probably should've thrown some laundry in there today. oops!

Well, let's see, today was not our usual day, but I'll go ahead anyway.
DH left for work early today (4:30), so his alarm woke the baby, but she went right back to sleep until about 7. I got up with her and ds was already up, as he's an early bird. I made breakfast for ds and myself. Made some coffee but never drank it. I was tired from getting woken up early, so I took a nap with the baby. At 11:30, one of ds's friends came over to play. The baby went down for her afternoon nap around 12, so I made lunch for everybody. While she was sleeping, I did a few loads of laundry, swept and mopped the living area and kitchen, scrubbed the kitchen counters, scrubbed the toilets, and put a fresh tablecloth on the table. That's as far as I got, then she woke up. Ds's friends's mom came around 2 and got both the boys to go to her house. Dd and I have just been hanging out since then. Since I napped this morning and didn't make it to they gym, I'll go there in a bit, pick up ds from his friend's house, and then come home (hopefully DH is home by then) and make dinner. That's about it.

nak...Wow mommas, you certainly get a lot done! Today we woke at 7:30ish, and played on the bed, then I fed the baby (ds, 7wks) and ate breakfast. At 8:30 ds vomited up his breakfast (not normal for him), so I spent some time rocking him. By 9 he was hungry again, and by 9:30 nursed to sleep! Durring his nap I made the bed, tidied the house, put 3 loads of laundry away fom the last few days, started another (it's sitting in the dryer), did the dishes, cleaned the floors and made and ate my own lunch w/o a lo in my arms! Yay for a 3hr nap!!! Now we are off to my weekly allergy appt. Dh is due home in 2 hrs, so I'll make dinner (i'm thinking lamb...) and after dinner we'll take a walk, hopefully.

Ooooh, I'll play!

This morning we played and read a lot in the house. Eventually, we ran a couple errands: groceries, Target. Then it was BIG SISTER MORNING! My daughter chose a couple gifts and wrapping paper for this new babe, and we had a special lunch together at a restaurant she adores. (I confess that I would never have chosen what she chose for the babe, but it's her gift!)

This afternoon, her sitter has her for three hours (my resting period!) and I've spent much of my time buying her big sister gift. She's really into Fancy Nancy right now, so I found a lot of great fancy stuff and a couple new Fancy Nancy books. I'm going to box it all up, wrap it in polka dots and give it to her in the hospital.

Also during sitter hours: laundry, dishes, puttering around the house. At nearly 39 weeks, I am SLOW.

Well, I'd rather play when we are having a more normal day... but I can't resist, it looks like fun
We have had family visiting from out of town for a week, so we are all seriously exhausted. So today we all slept in... kiddos til about 9:30, me til about 8:40. When I woke up I made a small pot of coffee, read a passage in the Bible and took a shower. Then I got the kids up in a hurry, got them dresses and sliced a bagel, and we were off to pick up my mom and take her to the airport. We got back around 12, at which point I turned the tv on (something I rarely do), and let them watch.... oh.... about 4 or 5 episodes of Dora.... !
I spent about an hour + being a bum on ravelry, and making a list for the craft swap. Spent a little time getting my packages from another swap ready to ship out on saturday.
When my dd woke up from her nap I threw diapers into the wash... made a snack... kids played a game where they ran up and down the hall, throwing stuffed bears everywhere and leaping into a pile of blankets on the floor....
Now I am making dinner (while typing..??? well, yes, I'm boiling noodles, and will throw in the sauce in a minute).
Plans for the evening---trying to relax. I am wiped out. Hopefully the kids will sleep well tonight and I can get the house cleaned up a little tomorrow, and maybe do some grocery shopping.

Not a normal day for us either, but this looks like fun! I have my two boys plus two girls I babysit. This week has been vacation bible school at our church, so from 8:30-12 we are all there. I am in charge of making and distributing the snacks while my kids are having fun doing their crafts/stories/songs. After that, rush home to make some lunch, get all the kids into bed for a rest. Today I needed a rest too! It has been a long week After that the kids were playing house, which included taking a train to the park, zoo and pool. While I caught up on some online reading Then my hubby took all the kids down the road to ride bikes in a parking lot while I made dinner--so nice! The girls left, we ate dinner and now the boys are watching a video because whenever I take a nap I have a headache for the rest of the day! That's it....soon it will be bedtime routine, then I have to make 60 cookies for VBS tomorrow and start it all over again tomorrow.

Dealt with a baby who is in a very "mama" mood today.
Made lunch for the kids.
Ran to the store for a few things, including ear plugs for the concert I'm going to tonight.

I hope this evening is going to be okay. I swear dd2 knows I'm going out or something. She's being sooooo clingy. I think dh is going to regret his generous offer to bail on the concert and stay home with the kids.

Today was busy!

DS woke up around 9 am. We got dressed and had breakfast, then we headed to the bank and the local Children's Museum. I had free passes that expire at the end of the month. We played there for a while- DS had a ball and played in some "new" areas he usually doesn't visit, so it was nice.

Then I had a haircut scheduled, so I parked DS in the stroller with some chicken nuggets, apple dippers, and water and he was content for the entire haircut! Yay! He also stayed awake for the entire car ride home, then went straight down for a nap which was AWESOME. If he had fallen asleep in the car it would have been BAD NEWS.

I woke him up after about 2 hours (otherwise he's never go down tonight), then he and I and the dog walked into town to run a couple of errands. We met DH on the way back by surprise, then they played in the driveway while I continued to work on trimming our huge rose bush. It's taking me forever... thorns hurt!!!

Then I showered while DH and DS ate dinner (leftovers!) and now everyone's hanging out in the living room. DH and DS watching what I'm sure is inappropriate anime cartoons, and me on MDC.

Not everyday is nearly this productive- yesterday we had the TV on ALL. DAY. LONG. Seriously. DS watched at least 7 hours of PBS / Sprout. It was UGLY.

I woke up at 6:15 with my 10mo DD. We made breakfast, ate, then I checked my email while she played.

Around 7:30 my 6yo DS woke up, had breakfast, did his homestead chores which include: feeding and watering the chickens, goats, cats and dog.

At 9:00am we went to my DS's violin lesson.

At 10:00am we went to the park with our friends for several hours, then we went back to their house for lunch and more playing.

4:00pm we came home and did more chores and started dinner.

6:00pm we ate.

6:30-7:30 we went for a family walk.

7:45 bedtime for 10mo DD - 8:30 bedtime for 6yo DS

8:30 - WINE FOR ME!

What a fun thread!

6.30am - I got up when DS's alarm went off. Made myself a coffee and did read the headlines from yesterday's newspaper.

7.00am - DS(3) woke up. I made him breakfast, which he spent 45 mins playing with before I threw it in the bin.

8.00am - DD(1) woke up. I breastfed her while reading emails. DS was watching TV.

Then I got myself and both kids dressed, cut up some pears and strawberries, and packed a bag. Loaded kids and bags in pram.

9.00am - 11.00am Breakfast for me with a few other mamas at a local kid-friendly cafe called Babycinos that is 10 mins walk from our house. I met these ladies 2 weeks ago and have crashed their mothers group We just moved to the area, so it's nice to meet some local mamas.

11.30am - Stopped for a play at the park on the walk home.

Noon - Arrived home. Made lunch for the kids (cream cheese sandwiches). A friend rang, so I chatted to her while they ate lunch. Put on a load of laundry (nappies).

2.00pm - DD went down for a nap. Another friend phoned so I chatted to he while DS watched more TV.

3.00pm - Made pizza dough for dinner tonight.

3.30pm - Kicked a soccer ball with DS in the backyard.

4.30pm - Woke DD up from her nap. Breastfed her while encouraging DS to ride his scooter on our back patio.

5.00pm - Gave kids dinner (spaghetti). Started writing a shopping list and errands list while they ate. Made appointment for DS to see a Dr, to get a referral to see a paediatrician. We think, maybe, he has aspergers.

6.00pm - DH arrived home with wine

Now I'm sitting on MDC while DH bathes the kidlets.

I'm noticing that your kids sleep a LOT later than ours. She usually wakes right around 6:00; we haven't used an alarm since she was born.
We haven't done much of anything yet today (it's just after 8am), but here's what we did yesterday:

Showered, got a little work done, played with the kids, and had coffee in the morning.

Went to the lake and had what DS called "lunch for breakfast" (deli sandwiches lakeside around 9:30), then walked around the lake (DS rode his bike).

Came home and noticed DS had scraped up his leg on his bike pedal, so took care of that. Then realized that DD was wearing her last diaper and we had no milk, so ran out to the store for those two things.

Came home, had lunch and put DD down for her nap. Played board games with DS and got some work done while DD slept, then played outside with both of them once she woke up. Made a pitcher of lemonade and the kids drank almost all of it because they thought it was fun to come fill up their cups with the pitcher.

DH came home around 4:30 and I worked until 8:00. DH did the bedtime routine with the kids while I did some embroidery. Finished embroidering at 9, watched So You Think You Can Dance, then went to bed and read for a while. It was a nice day!

ds2 likes to wake up at 5:30 or 6 a.m. but i take him to bed with me, sometimes give him a cup of milk and change his bum. then he goes back to sleep until about 8:30 or 9 a.m. LOVE that. right now he's not feeling his best though, so sleep hasn't been great. ugh. lots of crying and rolling around in mommy and daddy's bed instead of sleeping through in his own bed like he was!

so is this thread ongoing or are we only supposed to say what we did one day and leave it alone after that? we did totally different things today. we got up as usual, had breakfast, i watched Cityline and read a book, the boys played, ds2 helped me with dishes, ds2 played outside for a bit, and then we all went for a walk to the grocery store for supplies for a scrapbooking thing i have tomorrow (it's always potluck) and the 2nd hand store here in town (ds2 slept in the buggy for most of that.) ds got a couple toys and i got pants and a shirt! then we came home and ds1 is now napping. ds2 is playing, singing, and watching the wiggles and here i am

I'll play too!

I got up and did morning livestock chores w/the kids (we have goats, quail, chickens, guineas, and rabbits). Supervised morning inside chores (fish, dogs, cats, dishes, sweeping, catboxes, etc). Got everyone fed, and had coffee while I checked emails.

Canned some peach jam, peeled another batch for the dehydrator.

Cleaned the pool and harvested and watered the garden.

Picked more peaches.

Picked grapes.

Made lunch.

Did dishes and started a load of wash. Hung wet load on line.

Solved several problems between neighbor kids and mine. Threatened all well, lol.

Cleaned out rabbitry. Put poo on garden.

Swam.

Nursed and ate snacks.

Played pool w/ds.

Decorated pinatas for upcoming get together.

Squished tomato hornworms.

About to go make supper (shrimp cooked in green salsa, and millet and veggie stuffed monster zucchini reheated from last night).

Then will eat and go play outside and drink a couple of beers. Screw the laundry that needs to be put up. I'm done.
