12 weeks pg and freaking out over abcess

About a year ago I had a root canal on a canine tooth. I needed it because of a filling I had when I was a kid. The tooth grew in weird and needed to be filled before it got a cavity. Anyway, the filling eventually effected a nerve and I needed a root canal. (Just didn't want a lecture on good oral hygiene ) Anyway, immediately after I got pg this time I noticed that my gums were sore above the RC tooth. I stupidly figured it was just a wacko pregnant thing and didn't go to the dentist. Also, I'm not crazy about my dentist because every time I have the slightest complaint I end up with at least half a dozen x-rays before he will even see me. I don't have tooth pain beyond some tenderness, but yesterday noticed a small abscess growing. This morning it was much bigger, and then it popped. I'm going into the dentist on Saturday and said when I made the appt that I will not be permitting any x-rays. The dude can do some actual work and LOOK at my mouth and listen to me describe my symptoms instead.
I talked to my MW today and she just told me to do salt water rinses, and that's it's OK to take amoxicillin. I am just so scared of miscarrying, since that's how my last pg ended. I heard the heartbeat already and it's fine and strong. I've had almost every pg symptom in the book and haven't had any indication of an impending miscarriage. I'm just very worried

I've had abscesses before, on teeth which have had root canals. I've had good success with salt water rinses, and applying a little tea tree oil directly to the area. Tastes yucky, but works well. I'd do this a couple times a day, and take some garlic and vitamin c, and usually it goes away.
HTH!

Yes, garlic (Puritan's Pride brand, 1 pill=6cloves od garlic), vit C (sodium ascorbate powder+bioflavonoids) and D3 (5000 iu), plus a mostly raw diet will usually do the trick. Also pack the site with goldenseal powder and try castor oil packs. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice When I went to the dentist he said that it just looked like the old infection was still clearing out. Thank goodness there's nothing new there, I certainly did NOT want another root canal. I also didn't want to take antibiotics. Got out of both, whew!

How I cured my abscess by using raw garlic

I had gotten an abscess from a tooth, and I halted the infection by eating almost raw garlic that I minced up (I cooked it in broth for a minute or less, just barely simmer for a minute). I used 3 cloves and did this two times a day. After the third day the abscess stopped throbbing and didn't get any worse. It never popped though, and I still have a small bump along the upper part of my gumline. However, ever since I had to drastically change my diet due to starting to get rheumatoid arthritis (I had to cut out all refined sugar, refined flour and hydrogenated vegetable oils), my teeth actually started to heal. It did take a year, but if you think about how long it takes for teeth to decay, it doesn't seem so bad. Drinking raw milk really did help as well. Someone on this forum mentioned the book "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon, and I am SO glad I read it, it really saved my health, and the health of my family. It 'cured' my DH's chronic indigestion too that he had for years and years.

PS: I also cured an ear infection that I had caught years ago from DH (he went to get a real expensive antibiotic scrip and it took 14 days), early on when I started getting the symptoms, I did the 'garlic cure' too. DH got cellulitis (dangerous skin infection), the first time he took antibiotics, then he tried the garlic cure big time and got rid of it in 2 days.
