Babies who seem to love repetitive motions

My 8.5 month old does a lot of rocking, head shaking, kicking, etc...anything repetitive and really fast. It's not anything that is alarming me, no hand flapping, no "spacing out", nothing like that. But he will suddenly just start shaking his head side to side as fast as he can, and seems to LOVE it!

I wonder if he's making himself dizzy and enjoying the sensation?

Maybe he's developing depth perception and playing around with it?

Maybe it's his way of showing excitement? It definitely seems tied to his happy periods, or if he gets really excited about something (when I first come in the house after work he gets so excited that his whole body starts going crazy!)

Anyway...does anyone else's baby do this?

He smiles, laughs, interacts, is bright, energetic, active, responds to us, etc. So I see no red flags in this behavior, but I do find it interesting as I try to figure out why he does it!

There are certain things that so many babies seem to do that in my language there are certain sounds associated with those actions. Head shaking back and forth is one of them. Whenever my DD does it any korean will start saying "dori dori". She's done it like once in the last month or so (she's 9months old now) but did it quite frequently from about 4-7months and enjoyed it.
