Cytocele, Rectocele and vaginal prolapse

I had an emergency hysterectomy in 2007. Apparently, a common side effect of a hysterectomy is a cytocele. I have a grade 3 cytocele together with a rectocele and vaginal prolapse and am looking at my options. I've always done kegels and never had any issues until the hysterectomy - not even during pregnancy.

Anybody have any information, advice, etc.?

This website has expanded since I needed it, but I liked Christine Kent's info when I needed it:

This link was recently posted about kegels:

And here's a great follow-up post on squats:

Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting it.

I regularly worked out (mainly pilates) until January of this year when I started doing DVD's at home due to the incontinence issues. I have been big on focusing on core strength. I've also always done squats.

Maybe I'll talk to the physical therapist about Katy's thoughts.

Again, thank you!

I've had a cystocele for a long time. I e-mailed Christine Kent one time and asked if her book would help me. She very kindly said, "No." They do have a thread for this problem now, but I haven't been there for quite awhile because it's wasn't much help.

Pogonia, do you mind me asking how you manage yours? Mine has gotten to a point where it is painful and causes a lot of embarrassment for me. I've totally revamped my diet and I'm not sure what else to do. I'm in physical therapy (which is quite odd in itself) for it but the therapist has indicated that most likely I will need surgery. She is also talking about estrogen cream which strikes me as weird because I still have my ovaries.

Thanks!

Yeah, it is uncomfortable. My underwear is always stuck to it! Pluse I have to push it up out of the way to urinate, sometimes.

I've had two friends who have had the surgery and both have been unhappy with it. I will have to be desperate to go that route. So, I guess i just deal with it.

I did find two types of supporter belts for prolapses but seem to have cleared them out of my bookmarks. But here is one I found again:

Yes, it is for pregnancy, but at the time I read about it 'somewhere' () there were several enthusiastic non-pregnant prolapse users. I wanted to try it but just didn't have the money to spend.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
