My LO was tongue tied, clipped at 5.5 weeks, still having problems maintaining a latch at 12 weeks.
My right side has healed and toughened enough that nursing there isn't painful.
My left, however, is still painful. It seems to be stuck in a cycle of small injuries piling on top of other small, unhealed injuries, to the point where it never gets comfortable. I think that if I could let it heal completely, the small injuries that DS inflicts (dropping the latch, pulling off) wouldn't be enough to be painful.
My question is how to do that. Should I just have him nurse from the good side for a day? (or two? or three?) What will that do to the supply on each side? I have a pump, but that also hurts my nipples, and if I'm trying to let the left heal, I'm not sure the trauma from pumping is helpful.
