Seriously? Tell me something else happened to my laptop...

Did my FIVE YEAR OLD CHILD seriously manage to disable the parental controls I had set up on this computer?!

I found a credit-card page open and he'd typed stuff in it trying to buy a game on Nick Jr!
It should NOT be able to do that under his account, and mine has a password.

So first off i check and sure enough it is his account, but for some reason NOTHING is blocked anymore--I had it set to children's sites only with even one or two of those blocked.

WHAT happened?! is it because the battery died a couple times yesterday or what?!

I have no idea, but I'm convinced kids are just smarter than we are. Or because they don't already "know everything" the way we do, they are really really great at looking for context clues and miss NOTHING. Yesterday my four year old managed to find and print a chocolate chip cookie recipe. She can't read. WTF???

So a five year old getting around the parental controls? I'd believe it.

Note to self: don't let kids watch when you set user permissions.

The parent controls could have reset to default when the battery died. That shouldn't happen, but it could depending on how it's set up.

Oh I hear you. Dh is in computers and still DD2 managed to do something to one of our home machines a while back that took him a while to figure out. My 3y has taught my 7y how to navigate to her favorite websites.

My oldest ordered porn on the TV when she was 2 just by pushing random buttons. Dora was on and then suddenly very non Dora sounds were coming from the TV. I dove for the remote and changed the channel. I had to call the company and they refunded the charges and reset the parental controls so I could set them up. (They had someone else's old info on it)

Well, obviously. You wouldn't want to miss even a single episode!

Oh my. This made me laugh so hard that, in trying not to bark I clapped my hand over my mouth and snorted and my DS asked if I was okay.

When my son was a toddler, he used to love playing with the tv remote.

One night, in the wee hours, I was woken up by the tv going on. I got sooo spooked. I tip toed into the living room but no one was there.

Somehow, he had managed to set the timer on the tv.

My husband couldnt understand why his phone bill went from 65 a month to 85!! When he called to inquire, they informed him of some "package" we had NO IDEA what it was. All we could think of was one of the kids playing with his phone and pushing random buttons.

One day my two year old ordered a movie on payperview. Not as interesting a movie as a PP () but I still didnt want it. they credited my account for me, thank goodness.

Oh my son did that when he was 2. The cable company put ads for kids movies and he clicked on one at my mom's house. It was Beverly Hills Chihuahua. I set her parental controls too. lol.

Oh yeah, my son (the same one I thought got around the controls, I figured out what happened, tell more in a min.) has known how to program the DVR for the cartoons he wants for at least a year. They also ordered a movie once and I got that blocked and the charges dropped. (just a random grown-up R rated not porn or anything but still certainly not a kids movie)

What happened was I reset the controls because when it was on "kids sites only" it wouldn't let him play his nickjr games without my approval and it was a big PITA so I set it to "medium" where like porn sites, swear words and stuff like that would still be blocked, and blocked google, you tube, that kind of stuff.

On my current controls--stuff that came with the PC, you can't block "secured" sites from your kids. Does anyone know if there's a program I can buy or something that will? (I also have my internet security Kaspersky controls on but they also don't block those--they are the ones you can buy stuff on and stuff like that.)
