Location of placenta using doppler

Is it possible to find the location of your placenta (not just anterior or posterior but right or left as well) at 9 weeks using a hand-held doppler?

Just wanted to add that I also have heard the baby's hb since exactly 8 weeks using the doppler.

I wonder about this too, not so much with placement, but with discerning between placental sounds and FHT??

My midwife has been able to get a pretty accurate guess with both of my babies using the doppler. I think absolutely it's possible.

Can someone explain how to do this? I won't have having an u/s with this one until after 20 weeks. I had PP with my first, so I'd like to do this later on.

At my 12 week u/s the tech told me the uterus is too small to know where the placenta is because it's wrapped around the uterus.

Please do tell! I always hear my baby's hb on the left, with the doppler ever-so-slightly angled to the right, but more pointing down. I'm dying to know if my placenta is anterior or posterior (esp b/c I want another VBAC) and if it's on the left or right.

Moonstarfalling- are you sure?? I've talked to women on other boards who were told exactly where their placentas were at 12 weeks!

Mama, what does an anterior or posterior placenta have to do with VBAC? I didn't know there was any correlation. Can you explain more please?

Anterior placenta shouldn't affect a VBAC. The only concern with them really is that if you would need a c/s, they'd have to cut through the placenta to get to baby.

I remember reading (when I was planning my HBAC with DS2) that if the placenta is anterior there is a risk of it adhering to the c/s scar and that could cause problems... luckily DS2 was posterior (DS1 had been anterior).

Ahhhh, hadn't considered that! Thank you!
