bloody mucus in the poop. When to freak out?

Daycare showed me that DS had a small amount of bloody mucus in his poo when I went in to BF him this morning. I saw it once before about a month ago, but then it went away. He is acting fine otherwise, no fever.
Should I call the pedi? Wait and see?
TIA

Are you doing anything different with his diet? Could it be from straining with constipation? Have you added, or increased, formula or solids?

I'd probably call the pedi just in case (ours has a great nurse who tells me if something is worth worrying about).

my dd had this after we started blw with melon, apple, pear and banana. we stopped for a month then started again. it cleared up and hasn't been a problem since. good luck momma!

Ok, I think more information from me is needed to make things clearer. DS has only gotten breast milk this week. He did get to try some different tastes last week and sucked on some watermelon last saturday (which had small chunks pass through this system) but haven't really tasted anything since. I however have a clogged duct, and all my joints are aching like I have a flu. So maybe mastitis? DS is just over 5 and a half months, and EBF not counting last week's tasting.
His poo seemed very normal otherwise, just brownish yellow breastfed poo. No constipation.

I'd call the ped. they'll likely want to do an occult blood stool test and a culture. when ds had that we think it was due to me eating/drinking cow milk

Could the blood be bits of watermelon by chance?
