You can always say the magic words.."Let me think it over and get back to you at the next appointment". If you are unsure about a test, vaccine, or whatever, refuse it for that day and go home, do research, and reschedule or have it done later if that's an option.
It's hard to make decisions when people are throwing all this information and procedures at you. You can always go back to the lab outside of a prenatal appt for blood work etc if you change you mind.
That is really good advice. Thank you sharing.

Thanks for all the wonderful advice ladies! I checked on the website for my OB's office and it looks like the first appt is just talking with a nurse and getting blood drawn. So I will talk to her and explain how I'm a little over-protective of that area right now and I don't want anything in there and see what she says. I don't want to start this relationship off by fighting everything but seriously, nothing's going near my cervix right now!

If you've just had a Pap..there shouldn't be a need for another. And if they want to check cervix for any abnormalities or whatever it is they do down there that first check...you can put it off until you're ready. Three pregnancies and I've never had anyone do any sort of internal check/exams past the first visit and while in labor obviously. And then 6 weeks postpartum.

And just so you or anyone may be interested...if you should have an abnormal Pap during pregnancy (I did with my second)...then don't worry about it. My MW said that every abnormal Pap she has ever seen, those women ended up having normal Paps at their 6 week check, because she said the abnormal cells usually shed off in the act of the cervix dilating in labor. That's what happened with me. I had never had an abnormal Pap before and so wanted to see an OB and she was all scary and pretty much dooming me to death by cervical cancer in the next 9 months and wanting to do a biopsy blah blah blah...my MW totally set my mind at ease about all of that.

I just thought I'd share in case anyone may encounter something similiar.
