Give me a reality check - breech

This babe is going to turn within the next few weeks. I'm only 30 weeks pregnant. Logically, I KNOW better than to make myself anxious over this but...I can't help but worry. I think it's because the OBs make a big deal about it in this area. I am not seeing an OB but I did with my first pregnancy...so I've kind of had the fear of this instilled by others. (Quite a few scare tactics were used on me my first time around.)

I just feel really stressed over this though. I mean, the baby's head is on my right side, right up under my rib cage...feet are constantly kicking my bladder and stuff. It just feels like the baby has decided THIS is its favorite place to be and the position it wants. It makes me feel less confident about him/her turning.

My midwife who I just saw Tuesday is not concerned in the least. (duh.) So that does ease my mind but the longer I go, the more worried I become all over again. Blah.

So give a nice smack upside the head. Tell me I'm just being silly and that worrying about a breech position at 30 weeks is pointless. I need some affirmation, some positive thinking and just...something ELSE to spend my energy on instead of worrying about this.

there's your whack, feel better? LOL
Here's something to read: http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/breech.html
That will help you get your mind turned around in another direction. There's tons of other info at that site, too!

My friend's baby was breech at 30 weeks (and had been that we for weeks) and was vertex at 32 weeks

Of course your baby will turn. I've also read that maintaining good posture helps (sitting up straight rather than reclining). Gives you something to do, anyway!

OK... babies turn. The vast majority do. They just don't all do it on the same time schedule

I wouldn't schedule a c-section for breech before labour based on my own experience. My first son was breech persistently. As in never head down, lots of movement, but just persistently breech. The OBs in the city I lived in schedule c-sections for breech between 37 and 39 weeks. I had supportive midwives an hour away and it was so worth it. He flipped all on his own AFTER his due date. No ECV and not really any "natural" techniques either (not that I wouldn't do the natural stuff like spinning babies and chiro, I just didn't know about them... but I felt strongly not to do ECV).

He was a vaginal birth in a vertex position where he would've been a c-section before any labour for the benefit of his lungs if I'd just gone with the medical model.

You and your baby just keep on gestating in peace together. Sending you lots of good vibes
