best clothes for cloth

wondering what brands of clothing you ladies use for your little ones in cloth. My son in a year and CHUNKY! now that its summer i'm having a hard time finding shorts that fit over his diapers. at home I don't usually put pants or shorts on him but I feel bad that his knees are on the ground (leggings are too hot and he just pulls off his knee pads). And when we're out I like to put nice outfits on him; he received so much clothes for his bday, it would be a shame not to use them. we use a combo of everything, fitteds, prefolds, pockets, wool and PUL covers. in the winter it was easy I just used his wool longies over and over again! mixed with some sweat pants.
I don't think any cloth diaper can be considered trim... anyway why do they need to be?? Maybe some of you awesome WAHM can come out with a new clothing line specifically for babies in cloth!

What about getting some wool shorties?
Or just wearing shorts that are a few sizes too big...that is what I used to do with my son when he was little.

We had exactly the same problem - my son is 8 months, weighs 23lbs, and has huge thighs. The whole thing even delayed my move to using cloth diapers exclusively because I just couldn't get his cold weather clothes over them. But we've found summer to be much easier than winter - we bought a bunch of cotton shorties - those one piece things that have short sleeves and short pants and snap in the crotch - and that's pretty much what he wears all the time. We got a bunch of them new but found some other nice ones on clearance at Gymboree. I bought them a little bigger than what I might have gotten otherwise but because they've got short sleeves and short pants, it doesn't matter that they're roomy. In fact, I think it's probably more comfortable for him in this heat. Don't know how big your kiddo is, but maybe they've still got them in his size? My son is wearing 18month clothes currently and we've found plenty of shorties in that range. I've also found that short pants overalls bought big work well.

If you mean what I call rompers! we love these for summer. Our DS is narrow waisted but chunky thighs and long, most waisted pants are too big around the middle. All in one things, like sleep and plays and rompers, onesies, etc, work best for him. And overalls!

Girls would be easier; you can just use dresses!

I LOVE overalls - they just seem to be cut roomier through the seat/hips than many of the pants I've found. Osh Kosh I must admit are my favourite & I've found some great ones second hand.

For last summer when ds was 8-11 months I put him in those little romper suits most of the time & that was nice & easy.

This summer he's too big for that & I've just found lots of shorts with elastic waists.

hmm I don;t know about wool shorts in this heat. And I dont believe they make rompers in his size. he is in a 24/2t and even in that size some of the his shorts are tight around his bum. but thank you ladies for the input!

Hanna Andersson makes rompers in size 90 (2-3 years) whih Im sure would fit him well. I aldo am a fan of Zutano's clothing.. I find they tend to cut the rump wider than many.

Children's place has rompers in bigger sizes. They run big, too.
Here's a link to some on sale!

Yes! I did mean rompers! Thanks. Hmm... I see the problem though with the OP baby being larger. I just looked a bit online and while there are some 2T rompers out there, they're not cheap. I'm glad you posted this question because I'm going to be right there with you having the exact same problem in a couple months. I thought I'd finally solved it with the rompers! I wish they were easier to find in the larger sizes. Sounds like I'd better put the grandmas on notice for some sewing!

I agree with PP in buying bigger sizes and then doing some rompers. If you check at Kohls their summer Jumping Bean brand stuff is on sale, you should be able to get some that fit.

On a side note...DS is out of diapers now. He is quite skinny and without a big old cloth bum, all of his shorts (18 month) from last summer fall off of him! I dug through his clothes bin from his first summer, and his 0-3 and 3-6 month shorts fit!
