My 3yo pulled his small wooden desk chair onto his toe about 3 weeks ago. It only caused him pain for about 10-15 minutes. None since - but it is pretty ugly. It turned black by the next day. It seems to be growing out and the black just seems to spread as it grows. I imagine this is going to take a very long time to look normal - but what do you think will happen as it heals? Do you think he'll lose the nail? I read somewhere that it probably wouldn't fall off if it doesn't do it in a week or so but I don't know... anyone else with experience with these?
ETA: I forgot to point out that it does appear the toenail is growing (see the difference in the white line between the pics -- does that mean it wasn't separated from the nailbed and likely won't fall off?)
