Can stress delay Ovulation?

I usually Ovulate around CD 18-20, but start using the OPKs from around CD 16. The days leading upto getting a positive OPK result I usually see the lines getting slightly darker each day.

Well today Im on CD 17 and the line is still very very faint barely visible infact...so Im wondering if maybe I won't O until later this cycle due to stress. I have had a very stressful past week, so could that influence O time? and if so, by how much? like a couple of days or longer?

Yes it can. I'm sure the time varies for everyone, but your body wants (for lack of a better word) to ovulate, so I think it will try to do so as soon as it can.

Yes, things like stress and illness can delay ovulation. Keep testing and watching for a temp rise.

Good luck!

I normally ovulate around CD 18-21, this past cycle it didn't happen until CD39. In May my mom moved several states away (my parents are divorcing). I'm fairly certain that, that stress is what caused such a delayed O for me.

Hi Samy,

I noticed that I always get my period on a Friday or Saturday, which means that I ovulate on a Friday or Saturday — even if it stretches out my cycle several days. To me this indicates that stress can definitely affect ovulation. I have a very stressful job, and on Friday can finally let go a little bit.
