2 cents on nursing chairs

I just wanted to pass our experience along. We bought a half decent padded rocking nursing chair. It was fine until she started crawling and walking. The metal rocking mechanism/legs are really dangerous. We have to gate off the room where it now lives rarely used.

I would keep the future in mind when you buy a chair.

Thanks for the info! Do you have a link to the brand/model that you bought?

Interesting. Doesn't your chair have a mechanism to "lock" the rocker? We have a mostly padded glider that has the metal mechanism underneath and didn't have a problem when DS was at the crawling/pulling up phase. We would lock it, and I would also pull my nursing stool up close to the front of the chair to block it a bit.

This chair is broken now and we are in the market for a new one for the new babe. I'll have to keep your experience in mind while we shop.

I have an old wooden rocker (and by old Im talking my great-grandma used to rock my grandma in it!) with some new pads put on it to make it comfortable.

It wont cut off little fingers and if it is necessary to be moved out of a room (such as when baby starts pulling up and I don't want them hurting themselve or the chair pulling up on it) then I can just pick it up and take it to another room.
