NOT vaccinating, where can I learn natural methods of care

Okay after so much research I've firmly committed to not vaccinating my children for anything. NO VACCINES. What I would like to know is does anyone know of any highly recommended books, videos, etc.. on treating children with any sicknesses they may get, without drugs if possible, naturally. Lowering fevers if needed, safely, treating diaper rashes, preventing illnesses. Any books that may specifically talk about these diseases that a child may get that they vaccinate for and how to treat the disease naturally. My babies have all been breastfed, we try to eat as much organic as possible, no sodas, or sugary juices, we juice using a norwalk, so they get fresh raw juices, they also get green smoothies (which they love), I make all my own baby food, but I am still open to being better educated. My kids have not been sick much, but I get really scared when they do. I guess it is just the protective mama coming out. My son had a UTI that we sucessfully treated with lots of Vit c, probiotics and other natural things, but it was sure heartbreaking to see him hurting. It was really hard not to want to go to the peds, we are so brainwashed!!!
My DD also ended up with a strep infection before she was a year old and I happened to be at a somewhat holistic doc with my DS that day for a checkup. We didnt even realize my dd was sick until we got there. The doc checked my DD out also and called later to say she has tested pos. for strep and wanted her on antibiotics. I caved because I just didn't know much about strep. I still don't know if we could have treated her without antibiotics, or at least supported her treatment with other things, but she was under a year old and it was scary. I really want to continue to study to at least support my kids immune system with as much healthy living as possible and to know how to treat minor illnesses confidently without going into the doctor. Point me in the right direction, I love to read and research!!!! Thanks!!!

I'm going to move this over to H&H since it's really about natural ways to deal with illness rather than vax issues. I think you'll get more response that way.

You could start studying up on herbs and/or homeopathic treatments.

Aviva Jill Romm has a book out called Naturally Healthy Babies and Children. She goes into a lot of herbal and other natural treatments for all kinds of illnesses.

The "Traditional Remedies" article in the Children's Health section at Weston Price Foundation website is very good.
http://www.westonaprice.org/childrens-health.html

I've learned the most about true health through their approach. There is months of reading on that site! Start with the WAPF link in my sig. for an overview of what they are about.

Andy Saul and the orthomolecular medicine group are also very interesting:

I would spend some time on the Acute Homeopathy thread here on Health and healing. Homeopathy has been amazing for myself and my family.
While reading through the thread you can see if homeopathy feels like a good match for you and your family.

Use the Search function for old posts by Momtezuma Tuatara. Lots of great tips.

Also, a long, really long thread that's stickied in the Archives section of Vaccinations, Nutrition/Immunology 101... I can't get to my bookmarks, but look for it. It'll keep you busy for a while--I re-read it periodically just to absorb more.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've already read all of Dr. Saul's books including Doctor yourself and his web site is under my favorites. I go to it often and it has been a tremendous help. I will look into all the other suggestions also.

You can also read up on taking sodium ascorbate to bowel tolerance.

I have this book and love it! Lots of practical advice and easy enough for a beginner to understand.

I'm interested in getting this book. Does the author go into use of SA (sodium ascorbate)? I'm wanting to look into SA after hearing about it on here and I'm really interested in learning more about it. I was hoping this book includes information on it.

The book by Aviva Jill Romm, Naturally Healthy Babies and Children, is the book I'm referring to in my post above :-)

There is some information on vitamin C in one or more books here...

I'm not sure if the Romm book has much in that way (I'm not at home right now and didn't bring the book with me.)

As an excellent basic reference, I would recommend Your Vital Child by Mark and Angela Stengler. It is out of print but is still available on Amazon. It covers, diet (I don't agree with everything they write in this regard), homeopathy, nutritional therapy, herbs, aromatherapy etc for each condition from abscesses through to warts. However, the most important thing (IMO) is to understand how emotions effect health, and not just the emotions of our children, but of ourselves also. Our children are very much connected to us and are heavily influenced by our thoughts and feelings. Fear is the most divisive of them all. So I would recommend extending your study much wider, to encompass the nature of reality, vibrational healing, nutrition (JaneS gave you a great place to start with the Weston A Price website). This is really, a lifetime of study.

it is a VERY good book and I had no idea it was out of print! I'd definitely recommend this one as a primer.

BEautiful article on sickness and healing

Check out this beautiful article by Melissa L. Block from Mothering a few years back. This article helped me to come to terms with some of the anxiety I face as a mother of 3 growing little ones.

Additionally, here are some wonderul articles by Dr. Philip Incao.

Especially loved "Understanding Infection: Not a Battle but a Housecleaning"

I hope this helps.

How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor by Mendelsohn is supposed to be really good. It gets referenced to a lot in the stuff I read.

I like and use Shonda Parker's (http://www.naturallyhealthy.org/) books a lot. (She writes from a Christian perspective, so not everyone will appreciate that part.)
