What are these little bumps?

All over my 9 mo?

I thought at first they were flea bites, since we've been having a flea problem. They look just like bites - red and inflamed. But then after a few days they start calming down and then they look almost like zits - just a little brown bump, no longer red, with a hard/crusty head on them. They don't seem to itch - at least he hasn't been scratching them. He has had a low fever off and on, he's been sleeping for crap, and has obviously been hurting (all of which I attributed to teething). But I'm starting to wonder if these bumps aren't something else. Anyone have any ideas? We've already had HFM, so that's not it.

Bumps that look like zits can be staph. I'd be tempted to take him in to have your HCP take a look.

That was my first thought too... but I think with CP they should have blistered before 3 days, no? OP - are all the spots in the same "stage" or are some red, some blistered, some crusted over?

They're all in different stages. And this has been going on for over a week. I washed all the bedding when I thought it was fleas, and I think that was last weekend.

He has a set of 4 or 5 on one shoulder that are in the zit stage. Several that already went through the zit stage and are now starting to fade - they look like tiny brown dots - almost like a pale freckle. And a bunch that are between the red inflamed stage and the zit stage (where the redness is starting to fade). I didn't see any fresh ones on him when I got him ready for bed, but in the last week he's gone from just a few of these spots to his trunk being polka-dotted with them (trunk, upper arms, upper legs and a few on his neck - none on his face). I haven't noticed anything like a blister though... It was 20+ years ago when I had CP, but I seem to recall pus-filled blisters?

the blisters can be small and zit-like.

My guess is CP too. Try a google for chickenpox images - they seem to vary quite a bit in appearance.

Well, I was right about the pain source anyway - he's definitely cutting 2 teeth, we could see them today.

I'm going to take him in tomorrow to see if it's pox. Thank you ladies.

ETA - rather, I was going to, but as of this morning, all the marks are nearly gone - huge improvement even from last night. Not really anything for the ped to look at.
