We are going to be taking our 6 month old along to a couple of music festivals in the next month and I'm pretty sure strollers aren't allowed at the festival site. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cover from the sun and/or rain? I'm hoping it won't rain (but I do live on the west coast of canada....) and I'm actually more worried that we won't have any shade all day. I've only seen one uv protection tent and it was very large!

if I can jump into this thread to ask a related question- we are wondering about ear protection for a music festival for out will be 4 months old ds then- are you gonna be using headphone type things? We have tix to an outdoor 2 day music festival- very close to our house so we can come and go at our leisure. Outdoors so we can go far back so it isn't too loud but I still want to protect ds's ears. Any suggestions for headphone type things? Sorry to hijak but the title caught my eye.

we do lots of shows/festies. the wax ear plugs work best for us. you can get them at any pharmacy i think. i am sure walmart/target has them too. we usually wear our girl in the ergo or didy wrap and stay in the shade. if there is no shade then i would definitely take the umbrella. have fun, drink lots of water and offer your LO the breast/bottle/water more than usual so they stay hydrated too.

Yeah, we are going to get some ear protection too - I've already seen some.
We're going to Lilith Fair and Folk Fest in July and looking for more in August (love festival season)
No umbrellas allowed at Lilith Fair...I do know that for sure. I'm going to call about the stroller to confirm.

i have always seen strollers at the camping type/all day type fests. my bf brought hers in to gathering of the vibes a few years in a row-no prob. i think it should be fine, but maybe you can call someone to confirm?
if not-i would suggest an umbrella which will give shade when needed or rain protection when needed. if you wear the baby, you will have a hand free to hold it.
I've been eyeing a chair like this one for future shows & our upcoming week at the beach.

we just did back to back Furthur shows sat & sun at the ballpark on Coney Island. dd1 is 2.5 & dd1 turns 5 mos this week. not a camping/fest thing but we spent the day in the parking lot & then the evening in the stands for the show.
i brought a little spray bottle w/ cool water to spray them both & we used a cloth dipe as a cooling cloth. dd2 really liked that-both playing with it on her body & chewing it! we don't have one of those "tailgating" type 4 legged tents but are buying one now. a friend had one & it was awesome. we have a baby jogger double stroller & the sunshades are amazing on those. out in the lot, they sat in it for walks or just to chill out of the sun for a few. we also had our umbrellas for shade & possible rain.
this was our 1st time with both kids & dd1s 1st "big" show. 1st night, we wore them both, left the stroller in the car since i assumed it would be a hassle or not allowed in a stadium. it was tough not having a place to put the baby down & it was hot wearing her for so many hours-thank god my sling was solarveil but still-it was hot out in general. we did end up seeing some other strollers inside.
we went up to the staff yesterday w/ the girls in our stroller & asked & they were great. told us which entrance to use & were very cool. so we went inside a little earlier to avoid the lines this time. they let us bring everything in-even stuff not allowed like food.
we use the peltor kids headphones & were really happy with them. bought from amazon-here are some action shots...

a few other things-more for toddlers but both little ones loved that we had lots of bubbles with us. and dd1 was super excited with the sidewalk chalk i brought for the parking lot. and i got a $2 tube of the glo bracelets at Michael's & those turned out to be a big hit too.

this is something we have been eyeing too. looks like we could sit with our beach chairs under it & kids could also use it...
