I would like to leave individual comments for you all but I'm going to fall asleep in about 5 mins so please just know that I have read your posts and commiserated with you all!

AFM, 39+2 today. Midwife says head is down low. No internals yet though - offered or desired. DS was 8lbs2oz and she thinks this babe is a good lb smaller. Wouldn't be suprised as everyone is commenting on how small I am.

Strange that DH and I are tall and broad and don't make huge babies. My Sis and BIL are shorter and slighter and have babes up to 9lb 4...

Been for lots of walks and have lots of energy up until about 5pm. Starting to feel introspective. Can't stand my in-laws by the time evening arrives!
For such an extravert, I'm feeling like I need to recharge alone alot.

Good news - DH has been asked to work in London for the 4 days before he was originally due to fly home!
He'll be in the same country as me from the 11th....hoorah! So only 5 days after my EDD.

Now going to listen to my hypnobirthing cd, drink my rrl tea, take my rescue night tincture and hope for a good night's sleep!

Jenny.... 17 days?!?!? ACK! At just 2 days "overdue" I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that number.

Welsh- Hooray for your DH being in the UK earlier than planned! Wonderful news!!!

afm- My mum is flying in today from Canada! I'm pretty excited and I know she must be bouncing in her seat on the plane right now. I'm also coming around to the fact that she'll be here when I go into labour and I'm kind of glad that she'll be able to witness the fleeting last moments of my pregnancy with her first grandbaby. Her jaw is going to drop when she sees me up close and personal with this giant belly!

Yes. I was due December 21st, and he ended up born January 9th, in what I thought was not only the wrong month but the wrong year!! So I'm wrong, he was 19 days late. I had been having lots of good contractions and was dilated 3 cm at my 37 week home visit. My midwives thought he'd be early. Don't listen to anyone! Nobody has any real idea when your baby will come except your baby

Oh, and then he was 10 pounds 4 ounces, first baby. He was my easiest labor in terms of how the contractions felt. I couldn't believe it when the midwives said I was fully dilated, it was like "what? that's it?" But then pushing him out was a bit hard, his shoulders got stuck. But we did it and now he's practically a man!!

Ugh, just the thought of going one day over just might drive me to tears - and I'm not the crying kind of preggo either. But the heat and pain just might change that. Today is supposed to be the worst day of the heat wave and I'm really feeling it. Actually it's been really bad since yesterday. Ice packs only a provide temporary feeling of relief without actually doing anything to bring the swelling down. DP massages my feet and legs, which helps, but he can only do so much, too. Yesterday we visited my mw for my next round of acupuncture and even hours later I had water oozing from the pin pricks. Yuck. Somebody please make it rain so it will cool off???

Terrilein you poor thing! <--- Doing my rain dance for you! It's 44 degrees here, and humidity is at a rare 40% (usually it's much drier) but we've got state-of-the-art aircon. Wish you could teleport over and cool down. Hang in there!

I had a bunch of contractions while in the grocery store, one of them had me and DH convinced (again) that this baby was coming. Now I'm at home, and they're gone (again). I thought I wouldn't be so easily fooled (again!).

Onto a more graphic subject I don't know if it was the 12 hours of contractions the other day, but since then there has been mucous, lots of it. With the girls I lost my plug while in early labor is was a big glob of yuck with blood and that was that. But seriously I didn't know there could be so much mucous. No blood in any of it but just the quantity is startling. That is probably way TMI but I figured we are all at that TMI point anyway...

I am ITCHY!!!

The mosquitos have been awful this year--we had a ton of rain in June.

Even the soles of my feet are itchy...I began to worry about cholestasis because I've heard that itchy palms/soles can be the only symptom, until I actually had my husband look at the bottoms of my feet....sure enough, there are friggin' mosquito bites there, too. How on earth?

to all you mamas, it's bad enough being miserable from pregnancy but to have to put up with that kind of heat too must be horrible.

Proto, I've been extra attractive to mosquitos since being pregnant, but it sounds like you have it much worse than me.

My uncle, aunt and cousin have just returned after living/working/schooling there for about 3 years. I was nodding along as I read about your ctxns and how you wouldn't be fooled again but were. The body can be so convincing!!! So umm yeah, are you gonna try one of those pressure points? Seems like your body is sooo close but

Terrilein - I have never heard of someone oozing water from their accupuncture points!!! Interesting. I wonder what the accupuncturist would have to say about that.

Proto - those mosquito bites sound like they suck. Calomine lotion? After-bite?

PapayaMama - I'll talk mucous with you! And you're right btw, we're all going there so why not go there too? It's definitely a sign that the body is getting ready but AGAIN is ambiguous in it's indication of WHEN.

AFM - today I lost a huge glob of cervical mucous also. I was really surprised. It was clear though, not tinged with blood. Some cramping and BH but nothing dramatic. It's amusing that this is happening on the weekend again, seems like my body likes to do labour prep on the weekend. Both my kids were born on the weekend.

Proto - after the cervical mucous comparison to banana cream - I'd recommend a recipe of pork jelly (transparent gelatin) which is more what mine looked like:

hi, first time posting in the weekly chat!

Terrilein -- that's really intense swelling! Make sure everyone massages from your feet towards your hips to help drainage, and start with the thighs, then the calves and ankles.

The heat wave is about to start here, up to high 90's and maybe 3 digits by Monday and I'm sure humid. Maybe i'll start swelling up then.

I'm not having that much in the way of early labor or discomfort besides that she's really low the past few days, either pressing on my low belly or sacrum (currently) bowels and cervix, and like a grapefruit between my legs. I'm trying to hold onto until July 9th--4 days before DD-- when my doc returns from a conference, which i just found out about!

That makes so much sense! Wish we had been doing it like that from the beginning. DP has been starting directly at the foot and working his way up to my knees. Guess that explains why the effect was always so shortlived.

ETA: I just remembered something totally whacky. I woke up sometime early this morning 100% certain that my left pinky had burst: my chest was covered in water. It must have just been sweat that I collected and my pinky was getting squashed, but I thought I heard something popping. *shudder*
