headaches?

I've been getting some severe headaches, starting around 1 week PP. My guess is that it's dehydration (nursing 2 kids, hot, humid summer), posture while nursing, hormones, or I need to go to the chiropractor.

Anyone have experience with this? Guesses as to what it is likely to be?

I can schedule a chiro appt tomorrow, and I try to drink 3-4 liters of water a day. I eat a lot. But in the middle of the night it was so bad my EYELIDS hurt.

No history of headaches or migraines. Birth was so fast we had NO opportunity for ANY interventions, so I don't think it's that.

I'm pretty sure there are some serious hormonal shifts going on around this time (isn't 1 week around when baby blues usually peak?). I would suspect that they may be related to this. Magnesium (I take the Flora brand Cal-Mag liquid) can sometimes help to some extent if they are migraines. Otherwise since you are PP now I would just use ibuprofen and see if they don't pass soon as your hormones even out.

Will your chiro see you this soon? Mine says she can't see me until 6 weeks pp.

argh, i hope so. it's either that, hormones, or not eating frequently enough. it seems worse after bf'ing - had me wondering about posture/tension in my body, but i am thinking now it may be hormone surges around bf'ing?

I'm having awful headaches. Last night it hit so bad i was thinking i may actually have to go into the ER because it felt as if my head were going to explode. I took tylenol and finally was able to sleep. I thought maybe it was in relation to the sinus infection i'm starting to get over, but i'm not sure as it is passing and the headaches are going just as strong. I've had these headaches since about 4 days after birth.

Same thing here, no interventions, natural birth. But mine are random times. Last night was hte middle of the night, another was in the middle of the day after eating. I haven't been into the chiro yet, been putting it off.

Same thing going on here. I also thought it may be a posture thing, or needing an adjustment, or something along those lines. But my wisdom teeth (all impacted and were supposed to come out, then found out I was pregnant) have been really bothering me. My midwife suggested that it may be radiating pain from my teeth since it goes up the sides of my head and settles behind my eyes. i've been gobbling down ibuprofen like candy, which takes the edge off enough for me to function.

Hugs to all of you - hope the headaches go away soon - it makes me so cranky to be in so much pain!

Me, too! I think its part dehydration and part tension headache. I feel like I'm constantly looking down at a nursing infant or a sleeping infant in my arms. This causes sore neck and I *think* the headache.

had a great adjustment today - way out of alignment! there is no pattern to my headaches, i am pretty convinced it is hormone swings. hoping it clears up soon.
