Prodromal stuff and waiting for labour thread - Page 6

I had a MW appointment yesterday and asked her to check me becuase i wanted confirmation of if what i'm feeling is correct. So... super high almost unreachable cervix, very soft, completely posterior. She was able to pull it forward (SO painful OMG!) to see that i'm around %50 and 2cm. Whatever that means if it means anything LOL.

My mom did some pressure points on me last night and DH filled my pool and i had about 3 hours undisturbed to zone out and let contractions come. So for a few hours it picked up into what seemed like labour... until DD wanted me to help her to bed and then it stopped.

3 night in a row i've had mild contractions all night, about 10-15min apart, just enough pain to wake me for each one but i fall asleep between them. Not much during the day until DH is home and i can put my feet up again.

Honestly, i think some aspect of this for me is not being able to let go... if i could just be alone i think labour would start sooner.

Feeling pretty good though, all things considered

I'm 41+2 now. Next MW apt is tuesday, and i'll get a stretch and sweep then if baby doesn't come this weekend (ouch... not looking forward to it... but also not wanting to 'lose' my homebirth by being too 'overdue )

Needing to be alone... yeah, I get that. And you've got that in-laws visit hanging over you which we all encouraged you to go for, but that's not until next weekend, right? I hope the stretch and sweep does the trick, even though it does sound painful... so maybe baby can just come on her own this weekend.

AFM -- I'm having what I would normally call BH ctx except that they are tugging upward like they did when my last labor started, and my bowels are very loose, and I have a persisten backache, and I just cleaned my office (totally weird for me). I'm only 37 weeks exactly and my first baby didn't come until 40w3d, so it just can't be the real thing, but I think I'll pack my bag tonight, anyway, and put my mother on a mild standby (she's coming to watch DD1 from an hour away). She'll probably end up staying up all night waiting to hear from me if I do , but I woke up last night worrying about her getting to our house in time.

Nothing going on here besides me having a housefull of sickies. Everyone has a lethargic, sick, runny bowel problem. Knock on wood I haven't gotten it and I hope baby stays put until it passes.

I have been having some contractions for the last two days but they are inconsistent. Last night my back started hurting where it did during DDs labor. It's making me feel really nervous and scared that the labor will be like my last. I'm trying not to dwell on it but there is so much that is like it even with the pre-labor. (DD was OP, LONG labor ending in a c/s) Ick. I am going to the chiropractor this afternoon and hoping that will help get me in line and this baby in a better position.

Argh! I typed out a long post but it got deleted somehow. Short version: I'm sick of this prodromal labour that wakes me up at night. I wish my body would just swing into labour already. I'm only 39+1 today but these past couple of weeks with prodromal -- I've had enough.

Mucus plugs are gross, but welcome.

That is all.

I hear ya surfacing...sick of prodromal stuff...today is the first day I've had ctx during the day. They have started at about 9am and they've continued, but they are inconsistance...some 10 mins some 20 minutes apart. they are definetly stronger today then they have been. but can't call it labor yet. We'll see.
I just made those "jump start your labor cookies" http://www.shoppingfortwo.com/Articl...tercookies.htm and they are soooo good. Hope they do the trick.

I must have lost about a quart of mucous plug/bloody show in the past several days. I get crampy in the afternoon but it's not going anywhere. I'm only 36w4d but I really don't want this to go on every day for another 3 weeks (both my boys were born at 39 weeks and change). Never had anything like it before and I hate it. When I walk anywhere I feel like I'm being stabbed in the cervix. I'm about 3cm but my cervix is still fairly long and posterior, which is weird too.

Can I be done with this now?

I'm hoping they become more regular for you..... and all of us!

I don't think I have any molasses.... can anyone recommend a substitute ingredient? TIA

Oh my goodness I'm so glad I finally opened this thread........it's so nice to know I'm not alone. I didn't have any of this with DD, I just went into labour on my due date and she was born the next day........there was no other time where I thought labour was starting. This time around is totally different. I'm 38w tomorrow and have been dealing with so much cramping, backache and contractions at night. It's really messing up my sleep (what little I get). Last night I had contractions (not necessarily painful) every 8-10 minutes and some were lasting about a minute............for over 6 hours. It didn't go anywhere and now I'm exhausted. I actually don't mind being pregnant for awhile longer, I haven't reached the "done" point yet but this prodromal stuff is pushing me over the edge. I want it to stop or I want to have a baby.........one or the other.

is today the day?!

5.30am here and I've had period pain-like cramps and backache since 2.30. My first night of this stuff.
Had no back pain with DS at all...it's not fun. Will get the TENS out soon methinks.
Everytime I feel the baby move I'm getting onto my knees, chest down, to encourage her to turn from OP. Not working thus far.
My m/w friend has been trying to convince me that she'll turn in labor because I've had one easy delivery already.....we'll see!

DH is at a hotel at Heathrow airport as he landed late last night. He's about 4 hrs away, straight down the motorway. Currently scheduled to be at a meeting up there from Mon-Thurs. We'll see about that too!!

sounds exciting welsh! I bet you are feeling relieved that you husband is just a few hours away too.

I agree with your midwife, you've delivered before so there is room for this baby to wiggle into an optimal position for birth.

Sending labour vibes to you! But no major labour until you are reunited with your husband!

False alarm!

Cramps stopped. Went out for lunch and a walk around the marina.
Still have backache and now loose bowels too but nothing more than that....
Hey ho, I'm not feeling impatient yet.

I want the baby to get out of me! I'm having bouts of regular contrx everyday, mucus glob came out a while ago and now I'm just goopy. I was 2-3 and 50% last week when midwife checked which is what i was feeling too. Baby was shifting between ROL and ROP for a few weeks and I had a bunch of harder contrx last Tuesday and she shifted to LOP which is much better. My babies have all been OP until they make the dive in labor. I just assume this one will do the same so I'm not too hung up on it. She's big like her sisters so she'll need to find the best way to get out at some point.
I'm not that uncomfortable, just emotionally done with this pregnancy. The big girls go back to school Aug 5 (41 weeks for me) and I really want her to get here so we can have some down time before school starts. I've never really reached this point in my other pregnancies, but it's been a really tough year full of transitions for our family. I'm ready to meet the little one that grew from all of this.

I'm only 38 weeks along but feel like crap. Up until this time I was doing fine. The occasional contraction, increase in discharge, constant menstrual like cramps, loose stools for weeks now and today I get to add nausea to the list... once the nausea came, I drew the line at the bearable mark.

Now, I'm getting annoyed, I'm really irritable and want to yell at everyone AND NOW I'm feeling depressed. The whole pregnancy I felt fine and now the depression hits? I had PPD with my last so I hope this isn't going to continue with this one!

Oh and I'm still working FT.. my FMLA kicks in next week...

I wonder how long my ob will let me go with my gestational diabetes and abnormal placenta

Is Gas (with a capital G) an early labour sign?!!
I am so noisy, I can't be in the same room as my in-laws tonight because they keep making jokes about it! It is reaaaaaaally loud!
Have had loose stools for several days. Guess my body is clearing out?!!
ok, so I've seen a couple of references to loose stool. Is this one of those signs you may or may not have? 39 weeks tomorrow and I'm ready to get started, but ... NOTHING! Except loose stool the last 2 days. And really, that could just be something I ate. Sigh. Not jealous of the prodromal stuff, but wish I knew something was happening!!
