19 months old and this is our conversation yesterday....

he was eating a freezie pop. I saw the empty wrapper in his hand so I asked him to go put it in the trash.

Minute or so goes by. Child has not moved from the couch. Repeat request.

He says "I did!"

Said wrapper is laying on the couch next to him behind a toy car.

Repeat same exchange.

*I* ended up throwing away the wrapper eventually

(he's got a 3/yo sister who tries the same thing...)

That's funny. DD does something similar. I have a kindle and always tell her that it's mine (say it and do the sign) with that hope that she'll eventually leave it along. Well, now if she ever gets the chance to get her hands on it she grabs it says and signs mine and starts laughing hysterically.
