idiopathic urethritis

Hello wise ladies!

My 10 year old nephew was just diagnosed with this disorder. They said he would outgrow it generally in one to two years, although he is already going on about a year. He is in so much pain! Has anyone heard of this and if so any suggestions for natural approaches?

Would fish oil help with the inflammation? Sodium ascorbate? We are really at a loss for ideas, so any suggestions would be very appreciated. I feel so bad that he has to go through so much discomfort. Thank you!

Does he pee a lot or it just hurts?

I would recommend looking into the Feingold or FAILSAFE diets to see if it's food chemical intolerance: www.feingold.org
www.plantpoisonsandrottenstuff.com

They have a lot of data about kids and various bladder disorders being helped. Vitamin C may irritate him. And personally I found that my interstitial cystitis ... another "we have no idea what causes this excruciatingly painful disease" was irritated by food chemicals as well.

Food chemical intolerance is now thought to be nutritional deficiency as the body needs nutrients to detox the chemicals properly, esp. magnesium but others too.

Fish oil is supposed to help inflammation generally... as part of a entire dietary plan to reduce inflammatory omega 6 oils (corn, soy, cottonseed, sunflower, safflower oils, meat and dairy and eggs from grain fed animals) that are such a large part of the modern diet and increase omega 3 oils (wild seafood and shellfish, grass fed beef and dairy and pastured eggs) that were eaten in more traditional diets.
