Hydrangea blooming but not flowering??

I have two big hydrangeas (Annabelle I think). They are big and bushy (with old growth and new) and have big flowerheads on them but the flowers never really open up. Each head will have 2-3 little white flowers open up but the rest remain green and closed. I did have a gardener visit last year who recommended a fertilizer for all my perennials which I have put on twice this year already. It's called Pink. Should I be using a specific fertilizer? Is there another reason I'm not getting big bushy flowers? It looks so promising every year but time goes by and nothing happens.

I had the same problem with a hydrangea bush. I concluded it wasn't getting enough light and I transplanted it to a sunnier spot. That made all the difference. Now I'm getting big bushy blue flowers. Hydrangeas also have no drought tolerance at all and you need to keep on top of watering them.

Hmmmm..they both get a lot of sunlight (pretty much all day) and we've had so much rain lately that I'm sure they're waterlogged. It's been like this for years no matter the weather so not sure. It's just so disappointing to drive around and see everyone else's bushes flowering and not mine. Thanks for the ideas.

I'm curious too. Some years mine blooms, others not. This year we have blink blooms. I've never pruned and know that when I do it has to be exactly so.
