Hey guys- so I was tested for toxo on the 6th and I haven't heard anything from my doc's office... is it safe to say I'm in the clear (for now)??

That or the office forgot to call you back. Drop them a line to be sure.

They call if there is a problem but usually don't call if the results are normal. I used to work in a lab and office.

I actually just got tested for this, because I asked due to having an outside cat currently. I was negative. I am in SHOCK. I have tested negative before as well, which is unbelievable to me. I have fostered ferals (for years) and volunteered trapping, fixing, vaccinating, relocating, etc ferals whose main diet was rats from the wharfs where I used to live. The amount of sketchiness and cat bodily fluids I have had on me (I won't get into what sort of things has been sprayed in my face) is crazy. I would consider that high risk - but still, negative?

I am blown away. I'm sure you're negative...I'm going to say the disease seems harder to get than the fearmongering interwebz would like you to believe (not saying you shouldn't be washing your hands, and wearing gloves when working in gardens, and not dealing with cat poop) but I wouldn't stress over it.

And as the PPs said, if the test was Positive they should have called you with the results.

I tested negative when my mw had me checked with my 4th child. I thought that meant no active infection, not no immunity. Looked it up and apparently I'm wrong. I've had dozens of cats-indoor and out-since I was a child. We almost always had 10 or more cats at a time when I was a kid and I was a rough and tumble eating mud tomboy. Surprised I haven't had it, honestly.

I've worked in a few medical offices and have, as a result, been in contact with numerous other medical offices and labs.

Most people think no news is good news, but I always call about my own test results. I know very well that lab samples and reports get lost, misread, or misfiled.

Thanks guys! I went ahead and called them today, they said it was negative and that if it had been positive they would have called me immediately. So I feel MUCH better now, although I am sure I'll still be paranoid about it occasionally, I'm almost out of the 1st tri so I feel a little better about it.
