When to give Yogurt

My baby is 8.5 months old and I have only been giving her veggies and fruit and occasionally chicken. I was reading on wholesomebabyfood.com and they say 7-8 months old is ok to start giving them yogurt and cheese. I thought you werent supposed to give them dairy til 1?
Is it ok to give her yogurt? We have given her ice cream before (bad, bad I know! Its DH and I's weakness) and she hasnt had any reactions to the ice cream so we should be ok with yogurt right??

We do yogurt and cheese between 8 and 10 months. I don't really delay anything except choking hazards.

We began at 6 months because DD3 had a tummy virus and it helps to get rid of viruses and bugs faster. My pediatrician said most dairy is okay at 6-7 months as long as the baby has been gaining weight properly, etc... BUT no cow's milk until 11-12 months because it simply doesn't have the proper nutrition for an infant.

I started yogurt at 8 months, but my LO doesn't like cold food, so getting it the perfect temp is hard. LOL

I plan on trying some cheese soon (she is 11 months now) and to start cutting her formula with milk now to see how it goes.

we did yogurt right away at around 6 months. even if you are delaying other dairy, yogurt (and i think cottage cheese) is different. something about the lactose or how it is digested or something or another which i obviously totally forgot.
but since we have no history of allergies we went right away into cheese and other dairy. and i think i've heard that they have reversed the advice of waiting with potential allergens anyway.

if you would like to try yogurt, I would suggest trying So Delicious coconut yogurt. You get all the benefits of yogurt like the beneficial bacteria, but none of the negative health consequences of consuming another mammal's bodily fluid.

Plain yogurt & french bread were my oldest daughter's first foods, when she just under a year old (10 mos?). I'd planned to start with mashed bananas, but she hated them!

Thanks everyone! DD is such a picky eater! I have tried my hardest to get her to eat veggies and she refuses to eat most veggies. She loves fruit and crackers and breadsticks and sometimes I can get her to eat Sweet potatoes and green beans but she will not eat Peas, Carrots, Broccoli. . .etc. Im going to get some Spinach and see is she will eat that this week.
I tried Yogurt this morning and she ate it just fine. She wasnt crazy about it but she ate it at least.

We did plain yogurt at 9ish months. I'd mix it with pureed fruit, which they both loved. Plum, pear and strawberries were their favourites!

Veggie eating

First--I'm holding off on yogurt, but we don't do much dairy anyway.

Mix veggies in with fruits. Peach and carrot, Kiwi and green bean, sweet potato and peas, blueberry/banana--whatevs--just experiment.
