whose mom really want's to avoid processed foods?

The only think I can think of is cherios, but I'd really like not to do cereal if I could avoid it. Anything that I can make at home?

scrambled egg yolks, avocado or banana chunks, quinoa clumps, soft lentils,
I probably have tons more, but Im thinking back 4 and 6 yrs ago.

small pieces of fruits/veggies. sweet potato "fries." black/navy/pinto/kidney beans. shredded baked chicken. avocado and bananas were a huge hit with DS in the beginning.

Our toothless 9-month old likes:

Banana
Strawberries
Cheese (mild types)
Ham (no "skin" or outside of the ham, home-cooked)
Puff crackers
Soda biscuits
Pears (peeled)
Teeny ravioli (I stuff with mozzerella and spinach)
Rice that I roll into little balls
Kosher dill pickles (no skin, insides only)
Beans - oh, man he loves beans!
Chicken (skinless, usually breast meat only)

For larger foods, I cut things into little cubes, about the size of the wide part of a Cheerio.

thanks you guys! DS has been keeping himself busy with a cake pan with and handful of raw rice puffs. it's been almost 15 minutes!

ds loves to pick rice and beans. another favorite is roasted cauliflower florets

I was starting to think I had the only toothless wonder, he's almost 10 months old

My DS didn't get his first tooth until he was 11 months old and he ate steak and pork chops anyway. He loved it. Remember that 1) the teeth are there underneath the gums so it's different than someone who has lost their teeth and 2) even once the teeth come in the molars take a long time before they show up.

I thought of more foods!

Avocados
Peaches
Shredded beef (I cook this at home)
Sunomono (quick pickled cucumber with green onion)
Olives (I cut into quarters)
Cherries (pitted, cut into quarters)
Hamburger meat grounds
Corn kernels (steamed)

It's hard to remember everything he's eaten!

they can pretty much eat anything without teeth but apart from cheerios beans are our favorite pincer grasp food.

other great easy to eat foods are fish (totally just flakes apart), sticky rice is great because they can grab in in "chunks", meatballs, spirally or round pastas, you could even make your own gnocchi pretty easily if you don't want to do processed. pancakes, muffins, toast with spreads/hummus (you can make baked goods as healthy as you'd like).

homemade chicken soup has everything you need: soft veggies, soft chicken, we do matzo balls...yum!

a ton of fruits which were already mentioned. our favs are watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, pear slices....

I never know what to feed DD.

She like strips of romaine lettuce (cut across so its like leafy, rib, leafy)
grap tomatoes quartered lengthwise
she had some skinned bits of plum last night
tiny bits of raw broccoli florets (which she stashed in her cheek for HOURS and spit out in the bed at nap time LOL

It's my understanding that lettuce is a wait-for-teeth food, given that it can't be mashed apart.

I keep forgetting things:

Pancakes, cut into squares
Waffles, cut into pieces
Blueberries, cut in half so they don't roll
Grapes, cut in half
Tomatoes
Tortilla pieces (whole wheat) - I fold the little pieces in half so they don't lay flat
Broccoli florets, steamed
Peas but he hates chasing them
Cauliflower, steamed
Steamed chunks of sweet potato or yukon golds

Non-pincher foods he loves:
Homemade biter biscuits
Homemade zwiebeck
Whole-wheat breadsticks (the long, thin, hard kind, unsalted)

Did not know that. Though we do have teeth over here.

Yeah, we've got a toothless wonder at 9 months and a week. One or two teeth to shred it is apparently all they need!

My almost 9 month old also has no teeth. He isn't big into eating but likes pasta with olive oil and cheerios. Also likes snap pea crisps and veggie sticks ( Trader Joe's snacks) not sure if that counts as processed or not as they are all natural ingrediants. Crackers. steamed veggies. small pieces of ww bread or waffles/pancakes.

wow! I"m so glad i started this thread. I have so many more ideas for food.

As for processed, I didn't mean to come off sound like a snot. I just would like to stick to home cooked from scratch foods for him for now. We aren't the healthiest eaters, but we are trying really hard.

Sure thing!

Biter biscuits

1 cup juice (we used organic apple)
1 cup flour (we used whole wheat)
1 cup baby cereal (we used organic mixed)

Mix all ingredients together. Pat into shape and place on parchment paper on cookie sheet. Leave them on the cookie sheet on the counter (DO NOT refrigerate) for 12 hours. Bake at 325F for an hour or longer until the biscuits are hard. Cool and store in an airtight container.

Did somebody say green peas?

I think we're the record holders on this thread so far, DD is 13 months as of tomorrow and not a tooth in sight. She eats most solids just fine though. Obviously I'm not giving her raw carrot sticks or anything like that.

we've also been doing popsicles now that it's hot from purees, applesauce, or from coconut milk mixed with fruit or jam. yum!
they even came in handy when dd cut her upper lip the other day.

This thread is awesome. Teeth or no teeth, I never know what to feed Lyra. I've been sticking to the "rules' about single ingredient foods and waiting for days in between new foods, but since DH and I don't have allergies (Well I'm allergic to latex and the foods that go with it, but that was developed, I wasn't born with it), I don;t think it's necessary.

We're holding out for egg white -maybe forever? DH is vegan, so I'm not sure what he's okay with giving DD, and she won't be getting fish/shellfish at all

So I could probably be a little less cautious right?
