pincer grip foods for a toothless 9 month old? - Page 2

I get a huge bag (I think 5 pounds) of frozen blueberries from Costco and let Jude have a handful or two at a time. He loves them! He also likes strawberries, bananas, avocado, steamed broccoli, and these oatmeal & banana biscuits. Sometimes I give him a little shredded up chicken or a couple tiny chunks of cheese but mostly fruit. His favourite is blueberries.

We did single ingredient foods when we first started solids but once we determined that most things weren't an issue we just started giving simple, homemade foods. The baked goods he gets are made at home, so I know they are nut-free. We don't do nuts of any kind or honey. Since we have a large roster of "tested" foods - I try and give something new at least once a week but no more than three times a week so that I can monitor if he's more uncomfortable than usual, has bowel issues or anything.

I also have a latex allergy and have mild reactions to foods in the related plant families (bananas, kiwis). Our son has had no issue with these foods, so I'm not terribly worried about it. I do tend to feed in "families" of foods - if he's okay with oranges, I'm more likely to be okay with mixing in other citrus without testing it individually.

Today, though, we went to lunch with a friend at a Chinese place and she ordered (the menu was in Chinese, so I had no idea what to get!). Niall just loved the spring onion and chicken rice porridge that she ordered for the kids (she's got a 10 month and a 28 month). Kept asking for more! I don't normally give him complex foods from a kitchen that's not my own but it seems to have gone really well (and I wouldn't have done it if my friend 1. wasn't an ER doctor 2. hadn't already fed her kids there on many past occasions 3. hadn't assured me that it would be fine.) It kinda felt, though, like throwing caution to the wind. Not my usual style!

More/new foods he's had:
Tomatoes
Whole wheat hamburger bun
Hamburger patty cut into peices
