Counting cycle days and length of cycles?

If my period started on June 1st and my next period started June 26th then my cycles would be 25 days long? I read while researching ovulation prediction kits that you count cycle days from the first day of your period to the day BEFORE your next period starts? Is this true? I always thought you counted up until you got your period. All this time I've been counting wrong......

yes, the first day of your period is cycle day 1 and you count up from there. so from the first day of your period to the day before your next period starts is your cycle length.
