Does your bf toddler like cow's milk? - Page 2

19 mo old DD has never tasted cow's milk because she has allergies to it. She very rarely drinks rice milk mostly on cereal. I started rice milk when she was an infant and had to give up cow's milk and I think of all the substitutes it tastes most like BM, very sweet. It now comes in "juice boxes" which is nice because I can take it with us easily and she doesn't feel left out when all her little toddler buddies have theirs!

My kids wouldn't touch cow's milk... until we found raw milk. I guess the taste is totally different and I'm guessing that raw milk tastes pretty close to mommy's milk. I don't actually know... I'm one of those who was never able to bring myself to taste my own milk, and I'm also so squeamish about anything with the word "raw" in it that I won't taste the raw milk either.

caden loves cows milk though he still bf's on demand pretty much, at group he'll drink the milk and leave the snack (fruit) and with breakfast more often than not he'll drink the milk and leave the cereal (or throw it on the floor )

My 15 month old wont drink it. If I give it to her she takes a sip and makes a face!

No! Mine won't take it and it's very stressful to me because he still needs a bottle if I'm not there sometimes but won't take the cow's milk - and at 19 months I'm just really had it with pumping. My daycare provider finally just said not to worry and she gives him a sippy cup of water at naptime and he's fine. But I still worry for those times when I'm not around for longer; and stress because I want to be able to leave him overnight or for a day or two for work trips in the near future and don't see how that will work with no milk at all. He eats solids but not so much that I can see it making up.

Also, I want to know how you managed to get 23 responses but my desperate plea for help about the same topic got none. I'm not sure how to word my posts to get responses because I've posted a few times before looking for help with no response. I'm not sure what's wrong with my problems

He does like yogurt and cheese
This was the case at our house til recently. After he turned 2 I began letting him play with a little in a pretty cup with a crazy straw, and now at 2.5 he'll suck up about a half cup a few days a week. After the offended stage, he would sometimes ask, then dump it out. So it's been a progression. Oddly, he now refuses yogurt unless it's mixed into the (cultured and sour!) cottage cheese.

My first didn't, but my second does.

E has gotten interested in it lately, mostly because she sees her older siblings drink it. but mostly she only takes a few sips and then leaves it alone. my older two didn't really get into drinking it until they were done with nursing (3 yo with DD1 and 3.5 yo with DS).

fwiw, we do raw cow's milk at our house. DD1 wouldn't drink milk at all until we switched to raw.

As far as raw vs pasteuried, I get raw when I can, the other when I can't, and the toddler drinks both and doesn't appear to be able to tell the difference. The older one still won't drink cow's milk even though we're mainly having raw now. Though she did say it tastes better. Better but not good enough, apparently. She just likes water as far as drinks go.

She loves it. More than breastmilk sometimes, I'd say. We just drink regular old milk, not raw, not chocolate, etc.

My baby didn't drink milk in a cup until he started weaning due to dropped supply because of pregnancy.
He was either mostly or completely done with 'boo' other than using it as a security sleep-boo (see post, he has to touch one to nap)

I give him goat milk when it's his own cup but he has had sips of cow too, from my cup. (1st had major issues, all since have gotten goat)

To the one whose toddler doesn't like milk--mine drank it blended in a smoothie with berries and banana long before he would touch it plain.

My 18 month old likes it, but never drinks much when I give it to her. Maybe 1/4 cup at a time?

My 16 month old doesn't like it. He will sip and then spit!

My 4 yr old only started drink it very little.

I don't even offer it to my 18 month old. Why would I? Still b/fing!

Nope. Neither of my kids like cow's milk, goat's milk, raw cow's milk, soy milk, rice milk, almond milk. But they will drink chocolate milk.

My almost 3-year-old likes cow's milk, but only drinks it in small quantities.

At 19 months I think my kids were eating everything we were eating? i.e. all table foods just cut up small for them, I did not make special food for them anymore, at least not that I recall. I honestly wouldn't worry too much if you have to be away, I think your child will take in the calories from other foods if he is hungry/if his body needs it. You can give cheese and yogurt as alternate forms of fat/protein--mine also ate nuts and meat. If you want to try the milk, my DD who is the pickier one about her milk would do chocolate milk but not pasteurized cow's milk. Then we found raw milk and she loves that and will now drink pasteurized milk also if we run out of raw. Raw milk really helped me to wean because my kids took it readily as a replacement for nursing. When you buy pasteurized there is pasteurized and then there is ultra pasteurized; I don't know if it makes any difference but I try not to buy ultra (Horizon Organic--the red box with the cartoon cow--is ultra-pasteurized).

ditto that! DS is interested in them, takes a mouthful and spits it out. Haven't tried goat's milk though....

17 month does not like it. He's only had one sip to taste when he thinks his siblings are getting something better than him!

4 year old nursling does like it. I limit her to once a day.

7 year old non-nursling only likes it with chocolate ovaltine in it. He was bf until right before 5 years old. He didn't try it until 2.5 years old. He does like almond milk - which was tried at 6 years old due to some digestive issues.
