Ok food growing mamas. I've moved and want to know what your advice for growing here is. What grows well and what I should avoid? What tomatoes do well here? What fruit trees do best here? What maybe grows better here than anywhere else?

I'm sure I'll have more questions to add, but that's what I got for now. Thanks!

we are on the NC coast so it will be a little different but I find that most everything grows really well here. We do:

tomato's - lots of different kids
cucumbers
peppers
corn
strawberries
squash
lettuce
watermelons
cantaloupe
eggplant
carrots
herbs
potatos

the only thing I have herd to not bother with is blackberries but I don't know if that has something to do with all our sand or salt in the air???

Great! They do grow blackberries here though. I guess its hot enough. My MIL has some in her yard somewhere, though I haven't had a chance to investigate where they are.

I'm going to go find the local extension office too and see what they have to say.
