wheat beer?

Does anyone know, if I have a wheat/gluten sensetivity (i'm still trying to figure out how severe) would wheat beer be off limits? or does the brewing process change the wheat enough that it wouldn't be an issue? Oh this stuff is so confusing!!!

TIA

For the first three years, I thought that the wheat bothered me, and certainly bothered my nursing.
Now I seem to be able to drink half a bottle. I haven't pushed more though because I'm pregnant.

They make gluten-free beer. Yes, beer that is made with wheat would have gluten in it.

My husband quite likes St. Peter's sorghum beer. He didn't go GF until recently and would actually ask the liquor store to stock it for him before he did just because he thought it tasted good.

I can't tolerate most beers - especially dark ones. I haven't tried gluten-free beer, but was looking into them a while ago.

One of the worst reactions I ever gave my Gluten and Wheat Sensitive son was from drinking a Blue Moon. Sad day for mama.

There are some decent WFGF Beers - some made with Sorghum and such. Someone recently told me Budweiser is made mostly with rice and has a very low Gluten count. I have not researched it yet though.

I didn't know there was GF beer! I'm going to have to check that out.

I had a few drinks of DH's beer (Budweiser) a few wks ago and got a heachache a few hrs later and was in pain the whole next day.

(My symptom is congestion and severe headaches when I eat something I am allergic too, I am finally figuring it out after almost a yr of constant pain).

Tanya!! - your thread in H&H was a big part of what made the connection for me, so thank you. I don't think I commented b/c I was off researching and then forgot to come back to it. I have been gluten-free for 3 weeks now, and my headaches and sinus problems are gone. This after I was taking advil and zyrtec-d pretty much daily, and was attributing it to allergies from the dust and weather here. Wish I had figured this out years ago.

I drink this because DS is allergic to wheat . (Yes, I am admitting to drinking and nursing.)

Before DS was in the picture...I would get wheezy on nights that I got together with friends. I thought laughing made me wheeze. Turns out I'm allergic to many beers. Don't know if it is the wheat, gluten...but Hineken is usually ok. (but not while I'm nursing DS. I'm sticking with the gluten-free one for now.)
