Ugh. I know it's just a phase...it's just a phase...it's just a phase...
But DD, 28 months, is once again refusing to go to sleep. Gone is the lovely child who would happily drift off to sleep (naptime and bedtime!) after reading a couple of books to her stuffed animals. Gone is the sweet girl who loves to talk about the things she's going to dream about before drifting off to sleep. Gone is the girl who is happy to read a bunch of books and snuggle before bedtime, and wants only to be "all covered up" in her bed to be happy.
At night she sleeps through the night once she's asleep (10-11 hours), but her naps are short - maybe an hour on a good day. Until last week, she was taking 2+ hour naps and sleeping 10 hours at night. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
Sigh.
It just took 1.5 hours for her to go to bed. She can open her door and reach her lightswitch now. If it's not one thing, it's another. Not the right blanket. Not the right books. Not snuggling int he right place (chair vs. bed). Etc.
I'm 38 weeks pregnant, and my tolerance is low - I will just keep picking her up and putting her bag in bed, with gentle words of love and a kiss on the head. Time after time.
DH will rock her to sleep - after 10 minutes of screaming - for naptime, and he just did the same for bedtime. I don't want to go into that pattern b/c a) it is physically very uncomfortable for me right now, and b) soon enough, it's not going to be realistic for me to do that consistently.
I know she'll go back to sleeping, right? Does your toddler go in and out of sleep phases like this? IS THIS JUST A PHASE? WILL IT BE OVER SOON!??!??!
(I'm a bit terrified of what's going to happen after the baby is born...)
