my friend has a 4yo and 6yo boy, and she is struggling with them. when she tries to correct the older boy for misbehavior, he just withdraws, shuts down. the younger one gets belligerant, aggressive. the brothers are physical with each other. when the older boy hurts the younger, the younger takes it out on the nearest person—shouting in his mom's face, for example.
i know a lot depends on the family's overall approach to things, but i'm hoping i can find some resources, perhaps a book that might give my friend some tools she can use to break out of this cycle. she is ready to see a therapist if she can make time/find the $.
