It's amazing to me. She turned five yesterday, is growing up too fast!
I still can't believe, many days, that I'm a mom. It's just something I thought would never happen, had convinced myself I didn't want to happen. And here she is. I can't imagine my life without her. She's wonderful.
And, of course, we feel sad for her bmom, who, this year, didn't show up, or even send a card. I'm guessing she heard through the grapevine that she was not going to be allowed to come to the party (since she behaved irresponsibly last year). She did have as her Myspace status a note that VeeGee was turning five (she's still using her birthname). It's so clear from her posts that she's in denial about this whole thing. If you didn't know the truth, you'd think, from the way she writes, that VeeGee is right there next to her as she types.
She still hasn't taken down all of the pictures of VeeGee, which are posted next to outrageously nasty party/sex pictures of bmom et al. But we've just decided that we can't spend all of our time fighting that battle (Myspace, for the record, is incredibly UNHELPFUL in these matters.) She just has lost the privilege of getting pictures of VeeGee for a while - we simply can't trust her. It's awful.
So, it's a bittersweet day. I suppose it always will be.
