need help with RRL tea!

Interesting that there are several RRL tea threads going right now! I actually like the tea blends. I've used the TM pregnancy tea but that's too expensive. I liked the Mamas blend from bulkherbstore and added oat straw to it. This time I got a bunch of individual bulk herbs (RRL, peppermint leaf, alfalfa, oat straw I think, lemon something, nettle) and mixed it up according to a recipe I found on someone's blog. I'm not at home, that's why I'm so vague right now...

Anyway, so I'm at work and I'm drinking it. Choking it down really. I do NOT like it! Do I need a different/additional ingredient? Maybe the peppermint and lemon are too much together? I can't really put my finger on it, but I'm not liking this tea. Maybe I should just follow the recipe on bulkherbstore, but then what do I do with the lemon stuff? Can I get some suggestions now that I have all these things in bulk?

Thanks!

I hate it. Really, really hate it. Many mamas have recommended that I drink it cold, and that's just as bad to me.

I just found red raspberry leaf capsules at Whole Foods. I'm taking those instead.

[I hear you on the "OMG soon!" I'm due Saturday.]

I love cold tea, not so keen on hot tea, especially now. I've got 8 oz to go (from 34) with this batch, so it's over soon.

Got my fingers crossed for you! I'm in Chicago as well, and sooo glad for the break in the weather!

I haven't bought my RRL tea yet, but need to soon since I was planning on starting it in the second trimester.

I've heard that it's pretty gross...one person told me it tastes like dirt.

Would adding sugar or honey to it help the taste without taking away the natural benefits?

Thanks!

I really think it's personal preference. Maybe start with the Traditional Medicine tea bags to see if you might like it at all? If you drink it hot it's easy to add honey (and I did). If you drink it cold you might want to try agave syrup instead. I've seen some controversy about the agave (I think mostly in regards to glycemic index), but in my opinion it's fine as a general sweetener and it dissolves easily in cold liquid. I think others use stevia? I can't think of any reason *not* to sweeten if that's what you like. Brew some up, try it, sweeten if you like, try it again

I will admit that I doubt I would like it if it was just straight RRL. I really enjoyed the 2 blends I tried (once sweetened) and didn't dislike them pre sweetening. I started with the TM, then got the smaller size of the blend at the bulk herb place. Now I'm on to blending my own. Or trying anyway :P

Gah, I love the stuff! I brew it as sun tea right now and drink a ton of it! Sometimes I do all RRL, sometimes i brew a combo of RRL and PT from TM. My son loves it too.

I drank a combo of RRL, nettle, & peppermint through my 1st trimester. I added oatstraw or something like that to the mix and all of a sudden I couldn't stand it.

I am going to try re-mixing again, 3.5 months later, with just the basics.

I put hibiscus in mine and it makes it taste so much better, oh and do it iced as well. Hibiscus makes anything taste like kool-aid.

We spent the whole day outside, and it was heavenly. (We're in the western suburbs.)

Thanks for crossed fingers! I'm hoping to go into labor on my own within the next 15 days!

Good luck to you!
