Darn the luck today. I took my lunch break and went to a nearby cafeteria but I couldn’t handle the smell so I left for another restaurant. When I went got to the 2nd place, I found it was closed for a family vacation. I left there and went to a third place and found it closed down! So, I stopped in at a deli across the street that I had never been to. I ordered a turkey salad. When the salad came out, it had cold, deli turkey meat on it. Since I was already running behind on my lunch break and the restaurant was really busy, I took the turkey off the plate and ate the veggies anyway. In hind sight, I should have taken the salad back and asked for a different one without cold meat but I was worried about getting back to work. I read a post the other day where a mother said she lost her baby due to listeriosis. It really stuck with me. Now, I’m freaking out because I ate the veggies that touched the meat… Please tell me I am being ridiculous and to get over it.

Beltane: That was a good thread. I've never heard that about soft serve! I've eaten more of that in the last 7 months that I've been pregnant than I probably have in the past 2 years prior. And queso? Never crossed my mind to avoid that. Buffets? Yep, done that too. Guess I can quit worrying about the turkey.
And that's a very good point if it is true that Japanese women eat sushi all through their pregnancies with no increased rate of listeria compared to American women.
Thanks. I needed that.
