Basics, getting started, online sites/articles?

My cousin is doing EC with her new baby and says it's working out great. I asked her what book she'd read to learn how to do it - she said she just read about it online.

Sooo.... How do I get started? Is there a site, a group, a "how to" place I can go to know what I'm supposed to do when this little bundle pops outta me?

I lurked here, read Diaper Free, and recently watched the Potty Whispering DVD, which was great.

To get started, you can observe your LO diaper free (like laying on some prefolds) for as long as you can to get an idea of his/her timing as well as cues s/he makes such as noises or facial expressions. You make a cue sound "PSSSS" for example when they go. You can then offer the potty (hold them in a squat over receptacle of choice) and make cue sound. You want to start with times they likely have to go, such as when waking or shortly after a feeding.

Congratulations!

I too lurked here before my DD was born in February. But, before I knew about this site, I had read and really liked Laurie Boucke's Infant Potty Training. I also read a few other books, but Boucke's was my favorite.

In addition to the excellent advice from pp, I recommend buying a little potty bowl (I got mine from theecstore.com--it looks like an upside down hat!). Maxine loves hers and has pottied very comfortably on it since birth.
