swaddling in the summer

Looking for suggestions. It's hot and ds gets so sweaty being swaddled but if he's not I can't get him to nap without being in my arms.
I've got the aden and anais swaddle blankets (2layers of muslin) and I swaddle him in a diaper only. Is that as cool as I can make it?

My mother made me some thin swaddle blankets out of very thin material about a yard and a quarter, hemmed. They are easy to make.

We turn the A/C down a bit, and swaddle in diapers alone. Cecilia needs her swaddle for naps longer than 20 minutes.

Try a knitted blanket? Also maybe you can swaddle arms only?

We live in Costa Rica and it is ALWAYS summer...hot hot hot. We swaddle Emily in a low thread count twin sheet that I cut in half, so we have two. It is really old so it is really soft and has just enough give. I could hem the cut edge, but I haven't. I am a lazy cow. But it works fine. In fact with our ceiling fan we even need to throw a blanket over her sometimes.

You could also buy a couple meters of single layer muslin and cut some large squares and have several cooler swaddlers at a fraction of the price. No cute stars or circle prints, but I bet you could tie-dye them funky colors if you wanted.

Regular circulating air is always a good idea. If the weather is too hot outside, getting ceiling fans or something along those lines can help quite a bit. Just make sure you dust regularly with all of that air circulating!

Aden + Anais muslin gauze blankets are AMAZING. I find myself raving about them to complete strangers. They are so light and airy, and huge, so you can get a good tight swaddle. I use mine for nursing covers too.
