Well I don't live in South Africa. In fact I've never been there.
My husband is from South Africa, he lived there until he was 21. He speaks Afrikaans, and we want our children to speak it. They are 2 and 4. I'm wondering if it is too late for him to teach them. I've told him time and time again that he should just try to speak in both languages to them, but he doesn't. So I'm wondering if it would help if they watched a show that was in Afrikaans. Maybe once a day or something, so they could start to get use to it, and he would feel more comfortable speaking it to them then. I know it's hard for him, because I don't understand it at all, so he feels like he needs to explain things to me.... Any ideas? Oh and if you have any ideas for shows, they would obviously need to be available online, preferably for free... Thanks!
